This is for anyone who could possibly help or who's been through a similar situation. I've had my hybrid for awhile now and used to hit it beautifully (honeymoon is officially over) but for some reason, it's the only club in my bag that i consistently off both tee and fairway/rough that i straight pull. I don't mean a draw...straight as an arrow, absolutely blistered pull. i hit it about 30 yards farther with it going straight left of my target by about 30 yards with not a single idea as to why. I've tried everything i can think of, alignment, strong/weak grip (might induce my hands coming over on it?), ball placement in my stance and even my front side release. any help? keep in mind this is the ONLY club in my bag that i do this on for reasons i can't fathom. any suggestions/tips/buyers let me know haha (just kidding)

If the ball goes straight left you are coming over the top and into the ball with a shut clubface. It is not uncommon to pull the hands along and shut the clubface when coming over the top. Do you come over the top with other clubs? Perhaps playing a fade?

I hate guessing, and I could be completely wrong, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here because a buddy had a similar issue when he first started hitting hybrids.........many hybrids have a pretty pronounced offset. If the offset is significantly more than that of the rest of your clubs, especially your irons, that could be causing your problem.

You could try playing it a bit farther back in your stance, more like where you'd hit a mid iron if you're trying to play it as a fairway wood right now. That might help you hit it straight.

Another thought that comes to mind is that maybe the lie angle is different from what you're used to (???)

Been playing just a few months but I play almost every day.

What's in my bag: Distance Master Driver, Maltby Trouble Out woods/hybrids, Maltby KE4 Irons (all assembled by me so I can never blame my equipment).

Don't know what's happening.....sort of been through simulars stuff myself.

My "favorite" clubs will go haywire at times. I suspect it is from becoming overly confident and then overswinging....at least in my case.

When I overswing...it's not just going at it too hard, but coming back too fast and then raising up into a higher position....out of the slot....chicken wing right elbow and all that. Then an over the top shot occurs.

Good luck....I'm sure it will come back nicely for you.

Pulls always go further, I'm not sure why either. I've golfed with guys that have a extreme closed stance and hit the ball a mile. I've always wondered if the are basically pulling the ball. It looks like the are going to hit the ball way right but it goes straight and long. Not a swing I'd want but it works for them up to certain point. - Steve

A pull would go further because of the closed club face which would be de-lofting the clubface. So if you hit it flush with a delofted clubface, you will hit it longer.

it's a 2i hybrid, length is about 43 in? (would be a .5 inch longer 5w), stance is typical of a longer iron, usually about an inch forward of center or about 3 inches off the inside of my left heel...same swing as my irons (which i hit straight or fade/draw with control)

    • This is a fun leaderboard. I don't feel particularly vested in anyone specifically albeit we all know one man is looking like he will most probably put this championship to sleep by the time the day is over today. On a different note, I've changed my tune on BDC in the last year or so. I found myself applauding and genuinely happy for him for making the cut yesterday. Iffff a LIV guy wins this year I would rather it be him. Unlikely Scottie who seems to have supreme control of all his levers, he lives a bit more on the edge and yet has the perseverance and might I say, infectious positivity of a small time hustler. Dude just keeps hammering away. Love it.

    • I think it’s more about conservation of angular momentum. If the hands didn’t slow down you wouldn’t release it and the clubhead would barely be moving faster than the hands. The hands start pulling up and back as you near impact, which makes the club rotate around its own CoM as well as rotating around the system, which makes it move faster, which as you noted is the idea.    You can watch all this happen if you find a YouTube video of a pro golfer face on and go frame by frame you can measure on your screen how far each piece moves per frame. As those distances change that’s acceleration and deceleration. You’ll see the hands slowing down and the clubhead speeding up
