I've hardly ever played with a young golfer so imagine my surprise about a month ago when I walked on with a father-and-son pair. The kid (about 12 I would guess) birdied the first (par 3) which really got my attention - I bogied it myself ahem. He then played well most of the front 9 but the wheels kind of came off on the back. Still, he has a very good-looking stroke and an excellent attitude to the game which augurs well.

If I'd taken the game up at that age I couldabeenakuntendah ......

What made his attitude excellent?
