I was finishing watching the first round of the Pebble Beach pro am. To my horror, at the end they showed George Lopez's herky jerky swing in slow motion (or was it real time? who knows at those swing speeds) and he was swinging a Titleist 905!

Come on, he could be swinging @#%# on a stick and heh'd still hit it as far as he does now with that herky jerky swing. These guys get all the breaks; cushy jobs, tons of money, and the chance to play with pros. Now they get pre-released equipment too??? Titleist needs to draw the line somewhere since there are thousands of eager golfers around the country dying to get thier hands on these drivers and they give one to George Lopez? The guy's not even that funny, how many "White people are funny because . . ." jokes can we take????

I'm done ranting now , but I'm quite dissapointed in Titleist.

FWIW, Lopez has cracked me up a few times. Less than many people can admit to, but a few times here and there.

For all we know, with all the Titleist gear the guy wears, he's "on staff." Y'know? I don't begrudge him what he's accomplished, and celebrity breeds endorsement.

Call it "Titleist ramping up for release." Remember when the Smothers Brothers did a commercial for Callaway, was it? Maybe a Lopez/Titleist ad isn't to far in the distance?

I'd like to try the 905, and probably will when my pro shop gets some in. But I'm happy with what I have now... and have new irons and a 503.H coming in!

You know, I wouldn't be so irritated if Lopez was good. I'm not a big Kenny G fan, but if he had a 905 I'd be okay with it because he's a great golfer and could probably benefit from one.

George Lopez has come a long way and bettered his life considerably, for that he should definatley be admired. However, i still think he's got a long way to go to better his golf swing!

I thought Lopez took up the game recently, so I was going to give him credit for having a decent swing.

Turns out he's been playing nearly 20 years.

    • 40-60 year old golfers, do I have a project for you! I was once-upon-a-time gifted a set of Founders Club forged blades, 2-PW. If I told you they had minimal wear, that would be an understatement. I hit two shots with the 2iron just because I had two. Otherwise, 7i to PW has maybe five shots of wear on the face. But that's besides the point.  When I was a 15 year old I had my first set of Ping Eye 2 and for.the life of me remember having Langert woods. Does anyone have a lead on a Langert Driver and 3 Wood? Particularly with a shaft I can only remember as being labeled the "Brush Stroke" shaft...  I could be totally wrong being that I do remember have a Founders Club driver back on those days  However I'm 95% certain it was a Langert head, with the "paint stroke" graphics on the shaft. If you happen to know of this club and live in the LA area, I'd love to buy it off you, after which I'll invite you to play at the club where I work and kick you butt with some 1990s ancient club technology...   Thank you.    Ben.
    • Your hands move out and up rather than tracing inward. That’s all. A little of that is fine. You’re bordering on a bit too much IMO.  As I noted it does help you loop it back to the inside on the downswing.
    • As a 20 I agree.  I'm 66 and still want to lower that number, bought the book and this winter (starting next week) am going to practice and get a few more yards on my full swing shots. My short game and putting are not going to get much better or better enough to give me 5 strokes. Maybe I have drunk the cool-aid , but I have seen that GIR is a way better place to lower my score. Th alternative is ok-play for GIR +1-and live with 91-95. Its closer to par than 102
    • Unless they are bringing in hazards, OB, that is the proper strategy to achieve that goal. Being as close to the hole as possible on each shot without penalty will help greatly in breaking 90.    No offense but I think ‘ realistic’ could be replaced with ‘ easier.’ If you think you have the ability to improve your distance then that is the best way to start breaking 90 unless you have a glaring weakness with your short game. Which doesn’t appear to be the your case if you struggle to reach most par fours in regulation due to distance.
    • vote was yes. My guess is that the non alcoholics all voted no. Drunk driving laws are like locks...they work for honest folks. If I drink, I will probably drink and drive...so I have stopped drinking. Once I black out all bets are off.
