I'm not sure what Jordan looks like - basketball player? Not a very big sport outside US of.

no... simply. MJ is one of the few people ever to be recognized solely by his sillouete even...

i'd say in the early to mid 90's Jordan was more recognizable than Tiger is today. I guess we all just forget the past somehow.

What's In My Bag?

Tiger Woods is the reason why people watch and go to golf events. The tour would drastically lose revenue with all of the sponsorships and endorsements they give through him to the PGA. It would be bad.
In my bag:
Driver: Burner
Irons: R7's
Hybrid: Burner
Wedge: CG14 Putter: white hot

1..no more trailer trash,at golf events they would crawl back in there holes !!!!!!
2...the indahole man and youdaman would become extinct!!!!!!!
3...tv broadcasts would actually show other golfers playing shots
4...Kelly tigheman? would need to go and get a real job where she couldnt say the word tiger without giving herself an uppercut, unfortunately it didnt last one day and she was admitted to hospital with self induced head trauma
5...the european and asian tours swallow up the pga tour and u.s. tour players are forced to get passports and learn another language, and compete for the mega bucks on the road to bejing

All is good in the world !!!!!

How old are you? Reason I ask is because Jordan was hugely popular back in the 1990's.

Oh, I'm old enough...

The point I was making was that basketball may be huge in the US but it simply isn't that big a sport around the world. People who don't play golf - or have any interest in it - know who Tiger Woods is and Jack Nicklaus and a lot will have heard of Arnold Palmer and Seve Ballesteros. That isn't the case with Michael Jordan - he has to be explained and his face is not instantly recognisable (outside America), in the way of Tiger, Jack, Seve - and David Beckham, Maradona, Schumacher, etc. When I first heard the name 'Michael Jordan' I wondered why there was such a fuss about a British Porsche Cup driver (admittedly a good one, if you're reading, Mike!!) There have also been other names mentioned that I don't recognise - Kobe, eg - are they baseball players? Tiger, especially, has transcended his sport - he isn't just famous as a golfer, he is genuinely recognised around the world, an icon, if you will. No-one else (with the possible exception of Pele, outside the US) has done that to the same extent as Tiger.

A lot like it looked in the 80s and 90s. Less prize money, smaller crowds, probably no FedEx cup but with some standout events, including that one in Arizona that gets the huge crowds. John Deere Classic would become more important. Events would not be measured solely on whether Tiger was playing or not.

Lol! Mr. Nail? Meet Mr. Hammer. Absolutely on the money. Despite my admiration for Tiger, I'm fed up to the back teeth with the non-stop Woods love-in. Maybe there would be less charisma-free, pumped up gym bunny clone golfers out there; why copy anyway as they aren't going to beat him at his own game. "You're all individuals!"...."I'm not!"

Nice to see some Bristolian sense!
