the other problem I have with Pro's vs. amatuers in the olympics is like somebody else said. In this country the amatuer athelete is usually a person who is barely making ends meet. In other countries the country will sponser that person and give them the ability to train as much as a Pro could here.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

that money does go back into the schools. The NCAA is a not for profit. While I am sure that some people in the NCAA make very lucrative salaries, the NCAA as an organization does not make any money. The money is supposed to go back to the schools, and into the athletics department, the education, etc.

Their system is un-American and that is why I'm against it.

Sports are big business now. This isn't like when the NCAA was created. There is so much on the line. And players in football and basketball can't bypass college because their pro circuits won't let them on until they have some college under their belts. So the slave ship keeps going. This is un-American.

Who in there right mind would delay turning pro to represent our country? I'm a patriot to the fullest but no one is holding off making a lot of money for the olympics. Plus look at the flip side of it the best pros never had a chance to say if they would wait to represent our country so I'm not sure its fair to make that statement.

Used to happen quite a bit, and the Olympics meant a little more as a result. But then again, there are a lot of people here who don't even remember the PGA tour without Tiger.........

Is the typical amateur golfer in the US barely making ends meet? Most of the top amateurs in Canada are either trust fund kids (wealthy parents) or they're on scholarships with everything paid for. I haven't ever met an avid golfer who was not well off - unless "house-poor" counts!?!?

If it were amateurs only I'd be all for it. Touring Pro's will kill most of the countries envolved. Besides they have their own tour to play!

I was just thinking of the people on that show Big Break. One of them drove a faded Jetta, and the other was an exmilitary guy. It didn't sound like alot of those people had a ton of money.
