I went looking for a Nike bag...because my woods are Nike - I quite liked the Yellow version of Xtreme II bag because they match the wood covers...looks soo good together...

But it's actually a really great bag...I like to walk with my bag and the best feature of the it is the soft dual straps...as well as a large pocket for balls, a fur lined pocket for valuables (phone, wallet etc...) and a separate pouch for my water bottle - a must have on the course!!

unfortunately i'm a sucker for marketing so my criteria go:

1. brand of clubs i play (Wilson Staff)
2. colour and appearance
3. functionality (stand bag)

a marketer's dream...

A) Durability. If it's not durable, it's a waste of money.
B) Club Organization. Nobody likes an unorganized bag.
C) Storage. I like alot of pockets and places to put things.
D) Cooler. Who enjoys drinking a warm bottle of water?

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

My bag was a wedding present 10 yrs ago. Since it was it better shape than my old bag, I started carrying it. Now it looks like crap, but all the zippers still work, the straps are still good, and the seams are still together so I'm still carrying it. I may buy myself a new one for Christmas though.

I carry so it is pretty much all about it being light weight and comfortable. So, pointedly, 6 dividers work fine and weigh less than any 14 divider system. The old belt systems used to stink but the new one (at least from Sun Mountain) is terrific. It helps distribute the weight and takes the load off the shoulders. There may be some young studs out there laughing at that but when you're in your 50's I'm guessing you won't be. When your shoulders get tight so does your golf swing.

I voted A because I use so many "woods" so my bag has to be able to organize clubs with headcovers. The OGIO "woode" system does that. So its the clubs for me.

I use the PGA Tour Partners club Life Member bag with my name embroidered on the side.....but it has 13 separate slots and a putter well to keep it all in order. ...makes it easy to ensure you don't leave a club behind.

However, that said, if i were buying a new bag today I would look at the MasterGrip cart bag.....they are only $59.95 and have the same qualities & features of the $180 cart bags....check them out...

  • 1 year later...

I have 2 bags so far in my short time playing. 1st page I bought when I bought my Irons, I wanted a stand bag and went with the Golfsmith brand bag for like $49. After about 3 months of steady play I decided to get a new stand bag that was lighter, nicer looking and better quality. The GF bag started ripping. I decided on the Callaway Warbird bag. Why?

1. Lighter

2. Nicer looking

3. Match my irons

4. Better quality

5. Good price $85

Okay so out of all those reasons for buying the bag I have been happy with the bag. BUT I now use a pull cart because no matter how light the bag I buy is the clubs add weight and I have a bad back that gets aggrevated when I carry my clubs. Now I really wish I got a different bag that has more dividers and pockets. I feel that my bag is out of room and over packed. Now what? How long do you wait til you buy a new bag?

I bought mine for the fashion , black with white accents, got the head covers to match. Hey it matches my shoes. Lmao.

When a company makes a club in the USA I will proudly display their brand here. All of mine were made in china by somebody making $2 a day. Shame on you Mr club manufacture.

So do you play 15 clubs or no putter?

Mine has to have 14 full length dividers and set up where my clubs are in the order I like (little OCD), separate putter holder, umbrella holder, enough room to fit in raingear and a long sleeve (the weather in cincy is unpredictable), and a cooler.

Style and color are big factors as well I don't like anything to plain or ordinary.

Just bought the new Titleist lightweight cart bag for christmas.

My current bag I got based off the clubs that were goin in the bag as I was new to golf and had to have all the same stuff. Now tho I like to walk courses when available Im going to get a stand bag rather then a cart bag like I currently have, I am also going to make sure that I have some sort of beverage pouch or cooler pocket cause im always havingto use my buddys that have thme to keep my stuff cold when I go out and play. I also would perfer a 14 way full divder since right now i have a 6 slot half way divider and it is a pain in the ass with putting all the clubs in.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
