Couple of messages for some characters...

Blake- GOOD RIDDANCE!!! Way to leave one last mark on the course by slamming your putter against the green in an attempt to knock your ball off. You truly deserve everything that happened to you. Glad you're finally off the show.

Gipper- Please grow some f****** balls! The world isn't going to end if your bro gets knocked off! Then again maybe it will because he won't be there to carry you, protect you, and defend your obviously deteriorating shoulder. Also, stop being so pissed at Andrew. Just because he beat your brother (more on that shortly) and took the money (without ever using a mulligan mind you) doesn't mean you have to be pissy about it.

Tony- Why you chose to challenge the strongest player in the field is beyond me. I know you have your little "grudge" with him, but he wooped your ass all over that hole. I'm sorry but I was actually rooting for you to be eliminated tonight, both because of your arrogance and your brother's stupidity.

Mike- Not bad tonight Mike. You really put the other 2 in a position to have to scramble and play well. Im predicting you in the final with Andrew, don't let me down.

Kevin- Look, we all get that you're surprised that you made it this far. But maybe instead of being in awe yourself, you should take this as a new opportunity to maybe make a run at the final? Just a thought.

Andrew- Nice dude. Like the Gipper ass slap after he wouldn't shake your hand.

I will have to say that I am glad to see Blake leave. I was sick of his terrible attitude. As for Andrew, nothing made me happier than see him stay. I know I would get annoyed with all his chatter, but I like the fact that they are all out to get him and he continues to be strong in the challenges.

I am so glad blake is gone at the end praying tony made his shot and then they slow mo the shot and it looks like it rolled past. Blake showed real grace by pounding the ball with the putter off the green. If i had done that i would be off the golf team in a heartbeat. On a side note great to see andrew basically give Tony,Gipper, and probally also Blake the bird

If im trying to win something I absolutely want the best players out the fastest. Why would you want to just leave Andrew alone to gain comfort and confidence?

They're absolutely right for trying to put as much pressure as possible on Andrew. If Tony beats Andrew and AG chokes in elimination then Tony is a giant-slayer and he's eliminated his (in my opinion, other than gipper) stiffest competition left.

you kids shoulda played more sports as children.

Im pretty sure when 5 guys are ganging up on 1 and the solo guy prevails and sticks it to everyone, last I checked that qualified as VERY stiff competition...

I actually cant see anything being more competitive than that, 5 vs. 1......??

I totally understand your point of view and am a very competitive person myself. The difference with these clowns is that they're doing it out of hatred for AG. They're out on the course playing with vengeance, and focusing on taking AG out (they said this numerous times this evening).

Any competitive athlete would know that playing a game without thinking straight will bite you in the ass. That's exactly what happened to Tony today, all he wanted was to kick AG out because he doesn't "like" him.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. It's an individual game. If the Ravens can knock out Tennessee in the 2008 NFL playoffs, so much the better for the Steelers - they can play the weaker team.

There's a time for "I want to play the best" but if you lose, what? You're off the show. Taking out the weakest player when it's one-on-one makes the most logical sense. It guarantees you move on, and in the end, you moving on is always better than you possibly eliminating someone else. Incidentally, I thought the Finaus were cool before because they were staying aloof and away from the Andrew stuff, but in the past few weeks they've almost seemed to hate Andrew more than the other people, who almost seem to have let it go. They're late to the party and are coming on with a vengeance or something... it's off-putting. Gipper, your bro barely deserved to stay. And you, chill. I half expected you to start muttering "My name is Gipper Finau. You defeated my brother. Prepare to die." (P.S. Kudos to anyone who gets the last line...)

Andrew: I love this kid more every show. Tony makes a stupid move in picking him and Andrew just makes him look like a fool. This kid is by far the most talented on the show, has the most all around game, and nerves of steel. Andrew for the Win!!!

Blake: Glad to see him finally go, though up until his final putt where he took a chunk out of the green, I was actually not bothered by him today, which is a first. He kept his mouth shut unlike Gipper and Tony and just played, kept his temper in check, and up until that final putt actually played good golf tonight. At least we got to see that he is not a COMPLETE hack before his exit.

Gipper: You are now the new Blake. Quit freaking worrying about Andrew so much and your brother and start worrying about yourself staying alive. Honestly I believe the final is going to come down to Mike and Andrew, because Tony and Gipper are going to keep trying to take on Andrew and he is just going to make quick work of them, heck Tony is lucky that Blake yipped that putt or I think Andrew would have done just that. I mean did Gipper graduate from junior high yet?

Tony: Not as immature as younger brother, but boy did he make a dumb decision toinght, going after Andrew. You think these guys would learn their lesson, but neither brother will, and I believe they will both be eliminated within the next 2-3 episodes because of it. Tony and Gip can hit the ball a mile, and they are lucky 75% of the challenges are distance related, like playing all par 5's for the elimination challenge tonight, or at least one of them would be gone already. Andrew and Mike are just to good all around, while Tony and Gipper are really just bombers.

Mike: Played solid golf today and didnt get all hung up in the middle school drama. He is probably as solid all around as Andrew is, but I think his temper is going to get the best of him when he goes head to head with Andrew.

Kevin: Obviously has a very good short game and suprised that he has made it this far considering this was only the second challenge they had all season that had a putting aspect to it. I think his luck will run out next week though.

"My name is Gipper Finau. You defeated my brother. Prepare to die."

that made my evening ... honestly hahaha. well played.

maybe you're right. I guess it's just a different mindset, In a competition where there's no points for second place, I'd attack best players (within reason obviously, frequently descretion is the better part of valor) because logically if I'm the best... I'll beat them, and if they're better than me maybe i'll get lucky, but either way going out second is the same as going out second to last. I can absolutely see the rationale in playing it both ways.

We could have had Andrew vs. Blake for immunity if the picks had gone logically. Tony names Kevin then Mike is left with Andrew or Gipper. Since Gipper has a bad shoulder he seemingly would be the proper pick, which spits out the final pairing of Andrew vs. Blake.

I'll give Blake credit for not giving away his elimination via facial expressions in the confessional clips. Otherwise, I've never seen a Big Break contestant who lasted this far as a controversial figure yet never had a standout positive episode or redeeming quality. Normally Big Break strains to apply one of those, "Maybe he's not so bad after all," moments. This was similar to A-God from Mesquite but he lasted only a few shows. Both of them missed very short putts during a 3-man elimination then threw a fit.

Somewhat of a letdown, actually. Andrew outlasting Blake was my priority. Now that it's happened I suppose I'll try to feign anger at the Finaus but it won't be as ingrained or well deserved.

Haha, awesome. Tony can play Andre the Giant's character, perhaps?

I was so glad to see Blake go this week. Missing a 3-footer too, how fitting. I also have to say, my dislike for Andrew has decreased dramatically as the show has gone on. Initially, I really didn't like the guy, but he's backed up any attitude with great play - which the others really haven't done - and he hasn't let the immaturity of the others get to him. I've got to respect for that. Oh, and fore what he did to Tony and Gipper last night.

Didn't watch the whole thing, but I'm happy on two points. Blake is gone and Andrew beat his opponent. Blake is not mature enough to play with the pros and if he had won the whole thing it would have been a waste. I only watched a few shows and I am not sure why the others dislike Andrew, other than he is good. It's already been said, the others need to settle down and play the game and stop worrying about taking out Andrew.

BTW, was it a typo or what - surely they didn't play a 438-yard par 5... What was up with that???

    • @boogielicious and I are definitely in for the Stay & Play and will need the extra night's stay on Friday. I don't know what the plans are for our group on Friday but even if we don't make it for dinner with the rest of the Friday arrivals, I'll be more than happy to meet up somewhere for a beer or something.
    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
    • Wish I could have spent 5 minutes in the middle of the morning round to hit some balls at the range. Just did much more of right side through with keeping the shoulders feeling level (not dipping), and I was flushing them. Lol. Maybe too much focus on hands stuff while playing.
    • Last year I made an excel that can easily measure with my own SG data the average score for each club of the tee. Even the difference in score if you aim more left or right with the same club. I like it because it can be tweaked to account for different kind of rough, trees, hazards, greens etc.     As an example, On Par 5's that you have fescue on both sides were you can count them as a water hazard (penalty or punch out sideways), unless 3 wood or hybrid lands in a wider area between the fescue you should always hit driver. With a shorter club you are going to hit a couple less balls in the fescue than driver but you are not going to offset the fact that 100% of the shots are going to be played 30 or more yards longer. Here is a 560 par 5. Driver distance 280 yards total, 3 wood 250, hybrid 220. Distance between fescue is 30 yards (pretty tight). Dispersion for Driver is 62 yards. 56 for 3 wood and 49 for hybrid. Aiming of course at the middle of the fairway (20 yards wide) with driver you are going to hit 34% of balls on the fescue (17% left/17% right). 48% to the fairway and the rest to the rough.  The average score is going to be around 5.14. Looking at the result with 3 wood and hybrid you are going to hit less balls in the fescue but because of having longer 2nd shots you are going to score slightly worst. 5.17 and 5.25 respectively.    Things changes when the fescue is taller and you are probably going to loose the ball so changing the penalty of hitting there playing a 3 wood or hybrid gives a better score in the hole.  Off course 30 yards between penalty hazards is way to small. You normally have 60 or more, in that cases the score is going to be more close to 5 and been the Driver the weapon of choice.  The point is to see that no matter how tight the hole is, depending on the hole sometimes Driver is the play and sometimes 6 irons is the play. Is easy to see that on easy holes, but holes like this:  you need to crunch the numbers to find the best strategy.
