How far do you fly a six iron? Shaft?

Say you're in the fairway with a good lie, the greens are fairways are soft so you have to fly it to the green - what is your optimum distance to hit a 6 iron. Assuming calm conditions, 85˚ weather, low humidity, even elevation from ball to green...

6i = 185 yds Ping S59, Project X 5.5

with an 85% swing, my normal swing, a 6 iron goes around 173-180 yards. My 6i ss is around 85 sometimes a bit higher, and my shafts are s300's. I am thinking about making the switch to project x or kbs tour though.

depends on the shot shape, but anywhere around 195-205 accurately.

I hit mine 190-200. I've got TM r7's 4-pw with Taylormade T-step 90 stiff shafts.

You guys hit it farther than the top two US pros. Top two US pros have to hit 5 iron this distance. Consistent?

My estimate is that 6 iron is going to go 160. But I never know till it lands. Just started playing again after 5 year lay off. Many swing changes. Definitely still in adventureland.

About 160-170. I'm not amazingly clear on that at all, I don't get a good vibe from my 6i, heh.

I'm using Wilson Staff Di-7's with stock True Temper TX 105's. Listed as "uniflex" which has really got me confused and thinking.
