I figured your wisdom teeth extractions would go well. You have been stressing staying centered, keeping the hands working inside, and a good weight shift, and all that, with a little salt water rinse should lead to a good score with the tooth round. The last thing you want is to let your hips slide out past your right foot on the up bite, that could cause premature lose of scab in the upper right tooth cavity and your bite to come over the top. Don't recommend any beef jerky during your next round.

You are a bit lucky they only took the upper ones. When they take the lower ones, you drool all over yourself and look like Igor until the shots wear off.

What do you do with unused vicodin? Turn it back in? I have no need for it.

keep it you might have no need for it know but if you have some bad pain later in life youll have somethin to take for it

As you may have read, I was under nitrous oxide, but could quickly clear my head if I breathed a few times through my mouth.

I nearly stopped the dentist/surgeon fellow, because I noticed he was gripping his pliers too far in the palm of his hand. "In the fingers more, fellow" I would have told him, but I deemed it prudent at that point not to upset the guy with the needles and pliers and all manner of other pain-inducing objects. Thanks for the tips. If nothing else, a lighter head (two less teeth) should make it easier for me to avoid dropping it at any point in my swing, now. In closing, a Twitter post I made yesterday which may be amusing to some: http://twitter.com/iacas/status/5100042803

Ahhhhhhh....... I'm NOT loooking forward to getting mine taken out. Luckily, my top two grew in perfectly. But my bottom two are as messes up as can be... basically growing in perpendicular into the rest of my teeth (the x-rays look almost comical).

To top it off, they run deep and maybe too close to that really important jaw nerve that runs along your jaw (i forget the name) to even be operated on.

It's hard to find time to go see the specialist since I'm away from home at school and working also.

It's also confusing as to what to do about the situation. My dad is 30 years older and according to the dentist basically has the same "dire" situation.... but still nothing has happened to him.

Anyone have any lessons to share regarding waiting for the teeth to collide and all that vs just getting it over with 'just in case' ?

Keep it for when you need it. Never know when you might have a bad headache or get hit with a golf ball. Seriously, if you don't want to keep it around, flush it down the toilet or the garbage disposal.

Some of you are lucky with wisdom teeth. When I was 19 I had 4 cut out. I was put under so I didn't feel a thing or know what was going on. I remember going to sleep and waking up in the car on the way home. Maybe the process is a little better now, that was 15 years ago. I couldn't eat anything solid for 3-4 days though. Just couldn't chew anything. Lived off of mac & cheese and jello. In pain the whole time.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Again knock on wood, but I didn't take Advil yesterday or today. I can't notice any swelling, but my wife supposedly can. I ate some Mexican food today (a soft burrito) and chewed more towards the front of my mouth, but otherwise, all is fine (kow).

Flush it. It has a shelf life and taking it for something else down the road smacks of self prescribing.

Sorry for being a party poop on this one

I got my wisdom teeth cut out in 10th grade. I stayed home from school for a few days. I took the pills (Percocet probably). Good Fellas was released on VHS that year - I rented it for my recovery. I remember really REALLY liking that movie. I think being on the medication & watching a drug movie made it a better movie.

If the Academy had been on Percocet that year, Good Fellas would've won Best Picture over Dances With Wolves.

I can't read all this as I'll start feeling sick.

The top 2 came out fine. The bottom 2 hadn't errupted but were growing toward my other teeth so they had to go. For whatever reason the tooth had grown way down into my jaw so they had to cut part of my jaw and scrape at the jawbone. They didn't see this initially so I was awake for the whole thing. The next two days were hell. Vicodin helped some but gave me terrible nightmares so I stopped taking it and just dealt with the pain. I don't think I've been back to the dentist since.

I have one that is partially erupted. Is it more painful to get them removed after or before they erupt? It seems to be growing in pretty nicely and I don't really want to remove it if I don't have to. You had yours for almost 20 years Iacas? What happened to them between then and now that made you want to remove them?

i was put to sleep when I got mine removed. I didnt experience any pain during or after the surgury, guess I was lucky

Were they erupted fully?

no, a little bit was poking out tho. Some were covered all the way. I was started to feel alot of discomfort because they were growing into my back teeth. Its not bad at all to get them removed but I would get put to sleep if I were you, its cake.

I got all four, believe they are all fully erupted. I wouldn't mind not having them, but the idea of pulling them out makes me not want to do it. I hate dentists. I visit one each year to check up, so I put my teeth over my hate, but I'm not a huge fan of people using sharp stuff and drills inside my mouth.

I had all four of mine removed when I was younger. He must have done a great job because I was eating on the way home and my face never swelled at all. Little to no pain.

I still have all four of my wisdom teeth at age 57.  No pain, straight teeth, have had a few cavities in the past but nothing too bad.  I'm missing one molar from an impact injury a few years ago.  It could be genetics, luck, or fluoride, but I've been lucky with my dental health.

    • Day 319 - More mirror work, same focus on finishing higher and more towards the target.
    • Day 135: worked on putting bead for a while with the 2 cups drill.
    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.
