I guess I'm not a very long hitter with my wedges. I hit my 52* Vokey wedge about 80 yards and my 56* about 60 yards.

Then again, I've never tried to get max yardage with my wedges, so my questimates might be off.

What I Play:

Hy: Callaway FT 3Hy

Irons: AP1 4-PW

Wedges: Vokey 52* & 60*, Mizuno MP-T 10 58*

Putter: Newport Studio Select 2.7

Ball: Nike One Vapor

This is either a large photo or the holy grail of wedges - a 460cc wedge with fat shaft.

85 yards from me, but I do not usually swing out of my shoes with it. When I do, I can hit it close to 100

First of all, I'd like to know what is your average SW yardage on a full swing shot.

Does this wedge need to have "SW" or "S" on the bottom? I have a Wilson Sandy Andy that I hit about 75 yards (even from greenside bunkers).

From the fairway I hit my 56* wedge about 80 yards on a full(ish) stroke and typically pull it from the bag between 40 and 70 yards out.

60 with a full flush shot is about 65 yds, but it has a ridiculously high arc
56 goes about 85
52 about 100
47 about 115

I like a high arc on my wedge shots. They sit down hard. If I hit a fast green they are sticking.

who knows why that is...i mean i knock my 56 110 and my 60 100 yards. really i depends on the the swing speed that you generate for the club. if i swing slow of course the ball won't go as far....it just depends cause it's different for every person. even on tour, there really isn't a "standard" but more over a wide general gap if you hit from the fairway.

It doesn't really matter how far everyone else hits theirs. Just hit your SW what you hit it. It's not about distance anyway; it's about proximity to the hole.

Your new SW distance could be affected by less loft or something like that which is why you may not hit it as far.

Everyone swings differently and at different speeds, so comparing your SW distance to someone else doesn't tell you anything.

I hit my 56.14 Callaway X-Forged about 80 yds. on a full shot.

It has a smaller head than the stock X20 SW. Besides being good out of bunkers, it pops the ball out of the rough nicely: hits, bites, and releases forward 2 or 3 feet. I have to work with it a little extra, but it's worth it.

(Hitting X Forged irons is out of the question for me; but, the wedge works fine.)

Focus, connect and follow through!

How refreshing to see a distance thread that doesn't contain inhuman distances

My SW is a 56 degree, which is good up to ~100yds for me, however, with a badly thinned shot it has on occasion propelled balls well beyond that

Amen to the distances remark.

Double Amen to the "occasional propelled balls" remark I don't normally take full swings with the SW unless it's a trouble shot of some sort. (i.e. behind a tree, longer buried bunker shot, etc.) I generally use it from >50 yards. I grew up learning to play the short game with a PW, and that's what I use today from 50-135yds. It's fun to see peoples faces when I hit a low, stinging PW from 75 and hear someone say "that's gotta sit down" then have it one hop 'n check.

i hit my 56* cleveland 115yds max, im most comfortable with it from 100-110 though. my 52* goes 125 comfortably, and my 60* isn't used for full shots, i save that for bunkers and flop shots. all three are blade style, all my clubs are blades. i hit the ball further than most i play with though.
