Personally, I'm quite happy to fret over her course management another day.

For now, a pleasant young woman who has been threatened for too long with being undermined by those around her, is showing signs of delivering on her talent and I rejoice at that.

Congrats, Michelle! I'm glad to see she got off the schneid. She looks really happy.

Good for her,now maybe everyone will leave her alone to just be as good as she can be.By the way I think on #11 she hit a drive 305---not bad for a women .

Not bad for anyone.

that's exactly the point. in a squirrely lie with 220 and a one shot lead, there is no way, she should be taking out a hybrid. She is breaking bogey into play for no reason. She should hit a wedge to her preferred distance and then knock one on the middle of the green.

Yea - no way. In addition to everything iacas said, under the circumstances I think she was better suited to approach it exactly like she would under normal circumstances. The lie was perfect and thats how she plays the game. She had 204 to the front I think they said, she could probably hit a 5-iron that far if she wanted to. She did nothing risky.

Doing anything but what she did would've been unnatural and invite foreign thinking - exactly what someone who has heard the "when will she finally do it" story as much as she has doesn't need. Good on her for playing her game and winning.

just want to point out that to play pro ball and stay in college at the same time is a gutsy (or moronic to many) decision and not for the faint of heart

and, this is purely personal, between watching on tv a highly photogenic person playing golf and lesser photogenic ones playing golf, i prefer the former

Good grief!!! There's conservative and there's ridiculous. The hybrid was the right club off that lie. She is a professional golfer, you know.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Congrats Michelle.

I enjoy watching this natural talent and beauty... BUT...

I wish I have to come back in a few years and say I was wrong, but she reminds me a lot of Sergio Garcia... beautiful-powerful swing, tremendous iron player... horrible putter !!!

And everyone knows the deception Sergio has become. Outstanding player, who has won and will win many tournaments, but will fall short of all-time greatness due to his lack of clutch putting... the very issue that Michelle has always battled.

Sure, she´ll win more tournies, but I don´t know if she´ll achieve the greatness her game and talent deserves because of her green woes...

Please don´t swing while I´m talking !!

And you'd be wrong:

That said, I agree that her putting isn't as good as the guys... but the girls she's playing with putt like dogs. They're really quite bad. Michelle made a number of clutch putts (and shots) at the Solheim Cup too. Her putting was bad a few years ago, but she's done really well this year, and didn't even work with Dave Stockton until August...

It's great to see Michelle finally become a winner on the LPGA. She's been through alot, what I call bullstuff; she was just hyped up maybe so much she either got a big head or the public expected her to be great than Annika she disappointed. Quite frankly I don't care, she finally got a win, and she proved she's got game with this win. Around the Solheim Cup, everyone at my home course was talking about the LPGA for some reason; more than likely for the beauty and not the game, but either way, I told everyone that walked in and cared to listen that it was just a matter of time before Michelle won, and it could've been closer than we all thought. Sure enough, she got her win down in Mexico. Congrats to her. Can't wait for 2010.

I'm glad she finally did it... It's been a long time coming, now we'll see if she can focus better in 2010 without the pressure of getting her first win.

I thought the same thing when I heard she worked with him. I never heard of him working with anybody and now all of a sudden he's a golf teaching God for putting. I never heard of him being referred to as such a great putter when he played. I've got to go buy his book now.

At LAST!

Seems like she's been around forever - then you remember she's only 20. Yes, a remarkable talent - and 20 is probably around the standard age for a talented player to start winning on the main Tour. I expect there will be more.
