I am going to say it, that was a non event. The course looked like a set from a movie, the crowd was non existent. The tee boxes were bizarre for being flatter than a floor. There did not appear to be any natural flora or fauna. What ever that was supposed to prove for Dubai it missed.

There did not appear to be any natural flora or fauna.

Not to state the obvious, but it is a desert. The only fauna would be sand spiders and camels and i don't think the players wanted either on the course.

What now? I thought it was a great event. Lots of good golf played and it was interesting until Lee started making birdies on the last day.

The course is built in a desert, I don't know what you expect. And it is Dubai, not the most crowded place in the world. Ritz-Carlton in Arizona has some of the same features. A green course built in the middle of a desert, surrounded by cactuses, hayballs and sand.

I like seeing different style of courses, like at Turnberry this year for The Open. Seeing the picture perfect green ones with trees, birds, flowers etc. all year would be dull.

The only negative for me was the crowd. A season finale should be an event with lots of spectators, but when it is arranged in Dubai, that won't happen. But there's probably a lot of money in it.

I'm not sure I understand what your disappointed about. The golf course was in immaculate shape, the golf was entertaining. Dubai is a desert, now I haven't been to a bunch of deserts but I have been to a few desert areas and most aren't incredibly interesting. I think the course was good and so was the play. I will agree it wasnt as spectacular as Baniff, but I don't think they advertised it to be.

. . . it wasnt as spectacular as Baniff . . .

Do you mean Banff Springs? That is a nice course.

Mountain and Desert courses have one thing in common - they're both naturally unnatural.

Yes, I'm not sure I'd say mountain golf courses are unnatural. Desert courses always have a kinda of carpet laid down look. I'm not sure mountain golf looks even close to that odd. Just want to add that odd isn't a bad thing when talking about desert golf just different.

Either way, a Dubai World Championship in 2010 and beyond appears very unlikely right now.
