A kid? 26 and married.

You're a newlywed. Trust me. At somepoint your wife is going to do two things. One, limit the amount of tail you get. Two, drive you nuts about something.

It happens. I hope your marriage is like mine. You'll love and appreciate your wife more everyday. Now, lets take your example of the wife-beater. Better yet. Lets say a man argues constantly with his wife. He goes to a bar to soak it in with the boys and get away from her. Then he drives home and kills someone in an traffic accident. Does the background matter? Absolutely not. He made an awful decision and now he has to face the consequences of his actions, regardless of background. How could Elin Woods being an imperfect wife authenticate Tiger's actions? I don't need to know what happened in his house. I already know what happened in Vegas.....and it didn't "stay in Vegas". That said, I really hope this doesn't derail his career. He is an amazing golfer. And I hope your marriage blossoms and your wife lets you play golf and go fishing like mine :)

I just saw the same thing on GC. Sad thing is I had no idea Accenture was a sponsor of TW. All I knew them for was the Accenture Match Play stuff?

Good call Accenture, I had no idea you had sponsored TW. Talk about ineffective use of capital......

Consulting. You pay them, they take your watch, then tell you what time it is.

now i just read that some wh*re, Jamie Jungers , said that when she and Tiger would go out to eat, he would always ask for their meals to be comped.... this sounds like a complete lie to me. would Tiger really take this wh*re out to dinner while he was married??? i doubt it. she is full of sh*t

I think he's immature, and wanted the thrill of getting caught. Now that he knows the possibilty of seeing his kids every other weekend and some days during the week has knocked some clear thinking of the impotant things in life into his noggin.

now i just read that some wh*re,

Tiger was lucky to have Ms. Grubbs - she's a classy lady. She reminds me of Helena Bohnam-Carter.

I really hope that when Tiger comes back, he does exactly what Kobe did after he got in trouble: be better than ever. In fact, I'm calling it.

I personally don't need to know everthing about Elin Nordegren as a wife to believe that she doesn't deserve to be treated like garbage. If Tiger had enough of her, he should have filed for divorce first. When you love your wife, you respect her as a person too.

I agree with above 100% Tiger is an arogant a** hole that is finaly showing his true colors. She did not deserve this no matter what, nor did his kids.

I read a great article today on espn. Basically it said taking this leave from golf will make his life worse. Kobe played the entire time while going through his rape trial and no one talks about it anymore. Tiger stepping away puts more of a spotlight on him. He should fire his handlers who wanted the world to believe he's a gentleman. Face it the guy cursing on tv IS TIGER, the guy throwing clubs IS TIGER, and clearly he's got other major flaws. I'm not saying everyone doesn't have flaws but most people are who they are and don't try to change their image. Bottom line is if he continued to play this would all go away eventually also he just needs to be himself because people will still watch.

I would watch the same amount of golf (a lot) even if Tiger never played again.

Me, too.

May have an advantage though - Tiger didn't play much on the European Tour so we're used to not seeing him!

Look at the viewership and ticket sales of the chevron world challenge if you're still not convinced.

You're right - TV viewing is down around 50% when Tiger isn't playing BUT There's more to it (sponsorship and advertising) than just the numbers. The quality of the demographic is extremely important to advertisers. I think we will see a decline in the money available, yes, but it may not be as stark as some are suggesting. Money on the European Tour isn't too bad, after all - just not as much as on the US. And who's to say that the Young Prince (Ryo Ishikawa) won't come thundering through over the next 2-3 years, bringing massive viewing from the Far East? Or Rory McIlroy? Or both? Now, THAT would be fun - a Nicklaus/Palmer-type rivalry that could go on for 20 years...

Awful analogy. A crime with an unrelated victim is entirely different. The extramarital affair is a matter between Tiger and his wife and/or family. Without knowing what happened before, who knew what, what the couple was comfortable with, etc, you have no basis for imposing any consequence besides your personal decision whether or not to be a fan/buy his product/etc. Unless you have some inside line, there's no way any of us know what Elin knew, what she was comfortable, exactly what happened.

If they end up divorced and she moves to Sweden, I doubt he will be seeing his kids every other weekend or some days during the week. Probably more along the lines of once every few months.

Read this earlier, which gives an interesting perspective;

"When the great Barry John walked away from rugby at the age of 27, at the height of his powers, he wrote: "What began to depress me, and in the end frighten me, was the intensifying public movement towards my own deification.

"My home life began to suffer and I became a lodger in my own house. To an extent my wife and little daughter became strangers. Jan said to me several times: 'Why don't you talk to me any more?'

"I could barely bring myself to utter more than a grunt or two at home. Personal life went out of the window to such an extent that if my wife had fallen down the stairs and broken a leg it would have taken me a few days to realise."

John's despair is a powerful persuader as to the corrosive nature of celebrity. (my emphasis) Woods can sail away from the world on a yacht called Privacy, but it will be a doomed voyage unless he follows 'King' John and disappears into the sunset for ever. Golf is still shuddering at the prospect. "
