Hey, it seems that I won this week. I was confused since I'm still in seventh overall, but I won with 180 points.

Figures, the one time I'll probably win it's a short week, which limits my ability to talk smack. Suck it, y'all!

Hmm, had a bad week, but guess who's playin in the Hope? Garrett Willis. I only have heard of him because i literally just watched Top 10 1 Hit Wonders on the Golf Channel. I'm not playing him, but maybe it could be a tiny feel-good story. Also, i highly recommend watching that episode. I love Craig Perks! I remember watching that 2002 Players and always followed him therafter.

I did good this week, but missing the first week is going to be hard to overcome. I got 180 points for this past tournament.

Im not sure where that stands against everyone elses weekly points, but it seems pretty good.

EDIT: So Team total and tournament total are 2 different numbers? Seems that in the standings I only received 153 points......

Team total is how many total points you have all tournaments combined. Tournament total is how many points you have recieved in the individual tournament.

In the standings it has you at 183. 30(SBS) + 153(Sony Open) = 183. Maybe you're looking at the weekly performance standings?

I'm up to 5th this week!!!!! Got 172 pts. I went 75% South African. Els, Goose, Sabbatini, & then Cabrera. Goose on Sunday definitely saved the day, for sure.

I should of read the rules better, but I thought I saw somewhere on Yahoo, that u can change picks between rounds? If it's true, that's nuts. If someone was 10 strokes up after round 2 or 3, everyone would change. I'm pickin' 4, and go all the way.

You can do that, but it uses up one start for EACH of the players. And they already have to be in your lineup before the deadline - you can just take them off the "bench."

Thanks Erik. That makes sense. I thought the "bench" came into play if one of your picks, WD just before the tourney...Congrats! 180 pts. Ya beat me by 8... I had Stricker on my bench.

I am on the morphine drip. Both of my C players missed the cut. That's how it works, right? If all your players from one category miss the cut you end up with 0 points Sat and Sun? Just making sure.

Just noticed it's a Wednesday start. That's BS. I think I have one entered player on my roster.

To be fair, that was mentioned earlier in this thread and it's been a 90-hole event as long as I can remember.

Yes, clearly my own fault. Good luck to everyone who actually has entered players on their roster.

My team really struggled in Round 1. My best three scores were all on the bench.

Same here....

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
    • Do you have examples of exceptional scores versus their established handicap indexes?
    • Day 539, April 23, 2024 Mirror work once again. When I get back to swings, I'll just do it A. LOT.
    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
