what about a legit bigger name company like cleveland or callaway putting out two versions of a wedge, a conforming one for the ones who want or need it, and one for the hackers like me who dont care about the change and just want a new wedge after 2010 that has the same grooves as before, and dont want to buy a maltby or some other "fringe" brand?

Maltby is a "fringe" brand? The only difference between them and the "major" brands is how many pros wear their logos on their hat.

Uh, and how many clubs they sell, and how many golfers have even heard of them, and what their R&D; budget is like, and their ad budget, and their revenue...

Yes, they're a fringe brand. Doesn't mean they're not good, but it's not an insult to call them a "fringe" brand. I don't know what that has to do with the topic, though.
