Just wondering if anyone else has the same issues I have ... faced with a nice summer day, I often struggle with where to start the day ... the golf course or the lake ...
I love those days when I can do both!!
My fav is chasing smallmouth bass in the morniing (especially when they're slammin' topwaters!), followed by 18 holes before dinner!

I hear you. I enjoy (although I only get to around 5 times/summer) playing golf at daybreak and fishing an hour before sunset on the same day. Good stuff.

Hey where you from in NE WI? Yeah, I do like to fish too. When I had my own boat I fished muskies at least 2 times a week from June thru August. Now I fish for whatever the guy I go with wants to fish for.

14lewdo81,
I'm in Kimberly. Fish Winnebago, Sturgeon Bay and Shawano regularly (mostly for bass) and play Countryside, High Cliff and Irish Waters mainly.

14lewdo81,

I am from Ashland, but I dont fish the big lake much. I like the smaller inland lakes, very peaceful. Many nights there is no one else on the lake.

I like to get out and fish with some of my friends if I'm not golfing. Golf > Fishing, but fishing is still a lot of fun. Can't wait for Spring.

I freshwater fish and well as ice fish. Both of which I do in NE Wisconsin (the Minocqua/Eagle River/St Germain area). Fishing is a nice, relaxing escape. Besides, I mean, I cant play golf or hockey EVERY day! Well, I mean, I could; but my girlfriend probably wouldnt be very happy with me if I did...

I fish also but its saltwater that I enjoy. Problem is going out in a 26ft twin outboard CC doesn't leave much time for golf in the same day. We usually take a couple hours scouting for bait, I throw an 11ft cast net pretty well, when I hit a school of greenbacks it takes some effort to pull that net back in. Then we head off shore running for an hour or two to some reef or wreck. We'll spend three to four hours fishing that and then head back inshore stopping at favorite spots along the way. By the time we get back to the docks I'm worn out. Dropping and hauling anchor at each stopping point is pretty hard work, especially if we make it out into water 100' deep or more. Anyway thats my average Saturday. On Sunday it's time for golf, and if I get time during the week its also time for golf.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

I fished from a kayak when I lived in southern Florida. Redfish, snook, and then, the last year or two, shark. Pretty fun letting a shark tow you around for a few hours. Hooked a few 14' shark. They never just headed straight out to sea - very odd.

Here's some redfish work near St. Augustine.

I don't fish all that often, but i have fished for red snapper on the North Fork of Long Island, and for pike and porgy in the Long Island Sound.

Got the best of both worlds at my club. Get to play and fish. We have 6 ponds on or around our course and I have caught bass over 4 pounds in 3 of them. Really like to fish early in the morning or after a late afternoon round in the summer.

When you can get up at the crack of dawn and jump on the Skeeter and hook some large OR small mouths and then hit the links for a round the day could not possibly get any better.

Hey Erik, don't make it sound easier than it is, Kayak fishing is for the organized and flexible sportsman. (I hated trying to turn around to reach the crate)My 16 footer doesn't get much use anymore now that a CC is available

I'm flexible and organized, so I guess I qualify!

What I could never do - never even tried to do - was stand in my kayak and flyfish. I know people that would do that. How? I have no idea. I probably could have done it for awhile if I tried, but ... eh. Much more fun to throw your legs over the side and cool off. Kayaks are a lot more stable than you think. I forgot to mention, too, since moving back to Erie I haven't fished yet. After catching snooks, reds, and shark, a bass just doesn't do much for me. I think bass fisherman are kind of the lowest rung to begin with.
