First full field event with a number of big players in, looking forward to this one as i love Riviera

Im hoping for an AK win but i think Nick Watney will put up a fight and it will be these 2 fighting it out for the win.

First event for Harrington as well,we in Ireland are expecting big things from him this year

For the Northern Trust open, expect a lot of "The King of LA" stuff and countless references to Kikuyu grass. I remember last year Feherty did a little piece about it. He said something to the effect of it beings more web-like than bent grass.

The trees hugging the inside of the left fairway on the 8th hole have been removed, with a sandy ditch/waste area taking its place. The left fairway was restored several years ago, but those trees generally discouraged most pros from taking that option. We'll see if different strategies emerge on that hole this week.

I'm looking forward to this one as well. I predict a Mickelson win with Weir, Fowler, Prugh (he's on fire) and Watney in the top 10. Possibly Harrington as well but I'm not sure since it's his first event this year.

Interesting first day. I'm guessing Watney may miss the top 10 by just a smidge. Michael Sim also struggled more than I thought he would. Let's hope the weather cooperates for today. I'm about 40 miles away and it doesn't look good from here.

Nasty weather today, but they got most of the field in. The dozen guys at 2-over (including Aaron Baddeley, Ryan Moore, Mark Wilson, and possibly Padraig Harrington) will have to wait until tomorrow morning or later to see if they get to play all four rounds; only one of the remaining players has to drop to to +2 or worse to push the cut back one stroke.

DJ's hole-in-one at the sixth—which just happened to be the first live shot on the air during today's broadcast—was straight dope. He's going to be hard to stop the rest of the way, especially if the course continues to play soft.

Just an observation: if it rains at the Masters this year, it will be very hard to tell Ryo Ishikawa apart from his caddie.

I noticed from an overhead view that #10 appears to have 2 greens. Do they use both or is one some sort of practice green?

It's a matter of conditioning. The 10th green is very small, and so members sometimes play the alternate green to the right to keep the normal green in good shape. The alternate green is not part of the original course plan, and it is not used for tournament play.

Being from Wisconsin, my money's on Steve Stricker ... and Hoping Tim Clark makes a good showing.

Mickleson eagled the first bringing him to -6.
I think he's going to have a pretty good day wouldn't be surprised if he was within a shot or two of the lead at the end of the day.

He might, if he stops driving into hospitality areas and trees and such.

I didn't expect to see it, but anyone notice Johnny Miller almost lost it talking about Tiger Woods?

Johnny Miller looked like he was about to break down crying at any time during his Tiger speech.

Stricker will be a strong contender for winning this tournament. I love how he swings the club, so little wrist, so accurate.

Something like irreversible damge to golf, along those lines, but it looked like to me he was almost in tears at one point.

Saying how he discraced the good name of golfers and how golfers shouldn't be caught up in scandals like this.
