That's quite a nasty response. I'll stand by my original statement that I wouldn't put Tiger and Classy in the same sentence, regardless of how much money his foundation has. You obviously have a much higher opinion of Tiger than I do. So be it. No need to make personal attacks against someone who may have an opinion that is different than yours.

"Personal attack"? Because I told you to get over yourself? I didn't accuse you of anything, the whole "for all I know" comment was to make a point, I didn't state or nearly imply that you actually do those things. My opinion of TIGER is not higher, or lower, or anything. Yes, I'm getting fired up, because, ironically, it seems many posting here are, quite glibly and unemotionally, insulting the character of a human being that - when push comes to shove - you know absolutely nothing about. Does it not even bother you to lay such judgments? It's the Perfect People Foundation is just swinging the gavel of right and wrong around here.

And you simply say it's just 'how much money his foundation has,' I guess the number of kids that have been helped is irrelevant now? That doesn't strike you as picking and choosing, discounting good things, overemphasizing bad things? When we didn't know about his affairs, his good deeds were evidence of his strong character, but knowing what we know now, his good deeds are simply seen as facades covering bad character? Fickle, mildly-informed hypocrisy is what that adds up to for me, and yeah, I get upset over that.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

I don't understand why some people want to champion destructive and selfish behavior. Tiger obviously has some serious character flaws and it appears that he is trying to get help. The OP was obviously joking...but lashing out at Randy 4h when he states a fact (Tiger is not classy) is weak.

I'm not championing Tiger's behavior, I'm merely trying to avoid lynching him in the public square for it. And as far as his "class", perhaps you need a refresher on the difference between "fact" and "opinion."

However, on a related tangent, if you haven't noticed, our society has a long and storied history of glamourizing destructive behavior. Look no farther than "Being John Daly," the feel good story of an alcoholic womanizing glutton (odds are very strong that, with his - what - five wives or something? - ol' John dipped his pen in a few forebidden ink wells). But, man, are we rooting for him to turn his career around, aren't we? That's what so frustrating for me. Some people get to hold their addiction, their philandering, etc..., as a badge of honor, as a sympathy vote. Robert Downey, Jr. went to heroin rehab like three times, still gets hired for $10M movie roles; Michael Irvin got like four chances after coke arrests to earn $7M per year, and then $X as an 'analyst' (I guess he's finally done now, though?)... the list goes on an on. It's like we can't wait to forgive people in some cases, but in others, we can't wait to tear them a new a$$hole first, just level them to the ground. Why can't we just stay more even-keeled, maybe spare some fellow human beings a little torture for once? As I've alluded, I really think people will forget all of this, probably soon, like we did for Clinton, Kobe and a host of others, but that's because none of us are really left with the sting of it all. Tiger's life is being deconstructed one fiber at a time, while we wait for him to do what we believe he should do to 'fix this,' yet when it's all said and done, we won't remember it. Sort of a good thing, but what will HE remember, and his wife and kids? Will they remember what it was like for everyone to be in their business, 24x7, during all of this? Barbs/insults flying, accusations, insinuations, meddling, judging? If we're going to forget it, which I believe we all will, then why not just back off now? Why do people seem so set on letting their (drastic) opinions fly? Maybe it's hard to believe, but the root of my argument is pushing LACK of opinions.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

So that is NOT a personal attack in your book then? I'm assuming that you know the full meaning of your own words - perhaps I'm mistaken in that. No, I know a snide remark when I read one.

Clinton's behavior has not been forgotten, at least by those with a reaonable memory. It doesn't completely define who he is, obviously, but it is a part of the person that he is. Those things don't just suddenly go away - to believe so is wishful thinking in my opinion. TW is in a different class than Clinton when it comes to womanizing, that much us clear. Maybe in that sense he's got more "class" ....

Relax there, buddy. Unless I am wrong, you know absolutely nothing about this situation either. If you do know of facts that are different than Tiger's statement, please inform us all.

For me personally, maybe I would have a little more empathy if Tiger had not allowed his image to be that of an almost perfect human being, a family man, someone your kids should look up to. All the while, he was engaging in behavior that made that image a sham. To do so is, in my opinion, is an extreme lack of character. That also seems to be the opinion of those companies that have decided to drop him from their advertising campaign. I'm sure Gillette and Accenture would welcome your correspondence. There has been no hypocracy in any of my comments, nor are they mildly informed. Tiger can hit a golf ball well, he is not the person that many thought he was. That is a shame, but the only one to blame is Tiger himself, as he said in his statement. That's enough on this topic for me. Continue to rant on if you want, but don't expect further responses from me.

Still laughing so hard at the first posts here. I have long since given up on worrying about what others do in their private life... celebs or not. Honestly I could care less how many chicks Tiger bangs in between rounds, who takes steroids, who shot themselves at the club, or whatever other drama is headlining on ESPN radio. Great post Juan, and thanks for the first real laugh all day.

Swing - Mulligan - Repeat

I'm not going to question how Tiger lives is life because it isn't any of my business. It just sucks that society will treat his kids differently as a result. I have no problem with what he did because I'm not him. But, I wouldn't have if I were him because of the kids. Just my $.02.

I didn't remember that episode by Ali...but the closest comparison I have it Kobe Bryant. He was charge with raping that woman. Had a news conference & confessed his sins & gave his wife a big rock. He kept on playing basketball & the charges were eventually dropped. Over the last few years he has been leading NBA in jersey sales.....winning mitigates stars personal failings.

Yep - you're absolutely right....and it's just a 'sign of the times' now.

Muhammad Ali's 'outside-the-ring' life puts Tiger in the shade. Consider: 4 wives, 9 children (2 outside wedlock). When the Ali-Porche affair was blown (none other than President Marcos, LOL), the media by and large, ignored it. Question: Why such a different reaction to Woods? Answer: a symptom of the 24-hour media world we currently live in, but also an insatiable desire for stories about every aspect of celebrities’ lives. The difference between the 1970s and now is that, yet while Tiger contemplates his 'indefinite' break from golf, within days of having his infidelity exposed, Ali defeated Frazier in what is considered to be the most gruelling and epic heavyweight title fight of all.
