  1. 1. Which of these players will win a major title first?

    • Lee Westwood
      2
    • Anthony Kim
      9
    • Tiger Woods

Lee Westwood couldn't match Phil's score yesterday, but by shooting 1-under after starting the final round with the lead, there's no argument to be made that he lost the tournament. He now has four top-three finishes in the last eight majors. He's also the European number one, which may be a mixed blessing: the two players who have held that distinction for most of the last two decades, Colin Montgomerie and Sergio Garcia, could never seal the deal in majors.

Anthony Kim came into Sunday seven strokes off the lead, and he made up every one of them on the course en route to a 65. He did everything he could to give himself a chance to win, but Phil wasn't about to give up the strokes to make it happen. AK's coming on very strong these days; 2010 may be a huge year for him.

Tiger can be as dissatisfied as he wants for not winning the Masters, but what he managed to do this weekend was damn impressive. He was out of the game for five months, but his performance at Augusta would suggest that nothing had ever happened. We may see Tiger again at Quail Hollow, or we may not see him again until the US Open. One thing that is for sure is that he'll be playing to win the next event he enters.

As much as I want to say AK, I can't imagine that Tiger is going to let Pebble Beach and St. Andrews get away from him. He'll grab one of the two. If he lets it get to the PGA, though, AK has a good shot this year.

I agree with Shindig, I can't see any way Tiger does not get one of the next two......if he doesn't, I think there will be a lot of talk about a "Tiger-slump" and "the margain he once held over the rest of the field is gone."

Warranted or not, it will be certain to surface.....

as much as i would like to say AK, i have to go with Tiger. if AK can put together 4 solid rounds then he'll be a lock for a major. he had a great sunday at the masters and when he can precede that with a great round on thurs or friday then he'll be just fine. Tiger still has "it". the first tourney he plays he goes T-4 and it's at The Masters, that's just plain good. i'm glad he wasn't able to stick to his emotionless statement. tiger playing golf without emotion, be it good or bad, is like phil playing golf without a smile on his face...doesn't happen.

if tiger is going to win a major this year i predict it will be at st. andrews. i'll be cheering for phil as always but if tiger finds that little piece that's missing and takes it overseas...it will be a good battle.

sorry lee westwood...you're not winning a major. top 3 in the last whatever it is, 4??, is very impressive but you have to finish and for some reason there are guys who can't hold on to it.

According to an ol caddy friend of mine, who I have known for years and years, Tiger was the most "fined" pro on tour. There are certain things that aren't let out into the open and that's stuff like "fines" on golfers or another pro calling a ruling on his fellow pro. Like the time VJ called down Tiger for his driver and also called down Mick on his length of spikes, (back when steel was allowed).

I still keep in contact with my buddy, he fills me in on "good stuff" every so often and I'll pass it on. Like, the winner, Phil. The other caddies don't like him at all. He treats them as if the are slaves. He talks down to them. Maybe he's changed, that was a couple of years ago. The big cats usually don't change their spots.

Well, Tiger was tamed. He looked like me putting, and that ain’t good. I mentioned in my previous posts, Kim might do it if his putting was hot, and it was on fire Sunday. If only Mick had faltered, Kim might have been in a playoff. I felt for Freddy, dunking it in the drink, 2 strokes and momentum gone. I believe that he would have done a lot better if his irons had been a little more accurate. But, so is golf….. Next week, the Verizon……I’ll keep ya all posted with some spectacular props…..

I said AK but it depends for me really on whether he goes ahead with having surgery on his thumb, if he does and it keeps him out for a few weeks then it may make him take a step backwards and that first major may have to wait but if he can continue without having surgery until the end of the year i fancy him winning a major very soon this year.

I really think that Tiger and Westwood may have a good battle at St. Andrews this year. Westwood seems to always play well at the British, and well, this is Tiger's course. It wouldn't surprise me to see those two in a Phil/Westwood-like pairing on the final day, with one of those two picking up the major championship. As much as I like Tiger, and haven't particularly rooted for Westwood in the past, it would be nice to see the latter win his first major. The guy deserves it.

I want to see Westwood win the next one, due to me being English, and I obviously support all the English golfers on the tour. However, Kim is very talented, and I can see him winning one quite easily if he just puts up a solid 4 rounds. We now all know that Anthony Kim has a 4th round 65 in him, so you can't really keep him out of it.

And then you have Tiger. You can just never count him out. He could have 4 tournaments leading up to a major shooting +10, and then he'll come back with the tournament of his life. We'll see. It's certainly going to be an interesting year for these 3!

As TheBlake said, I think St. Andrews, Tiger vs. Westwood will be great, two of my favourite golfers right now.

TIGER WOODS

Rumors are flying the Elin is dumping his ass and a divorce settlement is imminent....Tiger hasn't been laid since November, and now the reigns will be completely off....he will be back to his old self in no time flat.
