What loft driver?

Lately I have noticed I drive the ball farther with it tee'd down lower (none of the ball above the face of the club, but 1 out of 10 I will top). Does this just mean I need to keep teeing it lower, or should i be looking into a 9.5* driver instead of my 10.5?

I would just tee is higher and use a lower lofted driver. Toping the ball on a drive sucks

Something I didnt think about when posting was the shaft...could this also be the culprit?

I have a 9* driver and tee it up just a bit higher than the club face. I actually like the options I have because I can also tee the ball on line with the club face and have a lower drive. Lately I have been going about 1/3 of the ball above the face line and it's worked well. Not super high but it goes out and rolls well.

Your driver's sweet spot might be low on the club face.

Most modern driver have the sweet spot just above the center. Teeing half the ball above the head is recommended....

I used to tee the 3/4 ball above the head.... my shot went all over the place!

Yes, the shaft could be your culprit. Different combinations produce different results. With my old FT-5 I was playing 10.5* and it was good. With my Nike Dymo 2 I needed a 9.5*.

It totally depends on the face depth of your driver and generally the loft. if your playing a 10.5 and your driver is 400cc im taking a guess and saying that it is relatively deep (please correct me otherwise). There is an old saying that the further the ball is from the centre of the stance, the higher up the tee should be. What is your normal ball position? I may a natural draw, i have my ball 3 balls from the centre of my stance and only really tee the ball up about 1.25 inches from the ground. if im playing a cut or fade, i will tee it up about .5" higher and move it further toward my left instep.

Try to go to the range and keep the same tee height, but, play with the ball position is my only suggestion. At a 22 marker, i would not suggest going below 10.5 of loft. Loft is your friend! kind regards, Chris

my experience was pretty similar. with my old driver i would tee up the ball with 1/3 above the crown of the club but while teeing it lower i hit it much better.
i actually switched driver and went up in loft by 0.5* (doubt that my Wilson driver's effective loft was 10 like stated on the club) with a stiffer and lower launch shaft.
i still don't tee up the ball very high but i like my trajectory much better

I recommend getting some impact tape and check to see where on the club head you're striking the ball. I noticed something similar last weekend on the range when I started teeing it down. I put the impact tape on and noticed that by moving the tee down, I was actually starting to hit the sweet spot more consistently thus the added distance. It took me a few swings to trust the lower tee height because visually it looked too low. But once I got used to it, I started to really bomb the ball.

They say for the average golfer that the more loft the better. I tee my ball high and use a 9* driver.

Like I have said before & no doubt will say again....

GET FITTED!! That way you will actually get a club with the lie/angle/loft/shaft for YOUR swing. Everyones points here are valid enough but honestly a good PGA pro will do more for you than anybody else.

You can try a bit of both. Get a 10* driver, and tee the ball up a little higher.

      Day 364: About an hour and a half practice session. Spent most of it at the range. Did a solid 30 minutes of work on my priority piece, with filming. I think it's improving, but will probably check in on Evolvr to make sure. Then spent the last ~20 minutes putting, working mostly on short putts.

      Day 79 (19 July 25) - Band rehearsal this morning - got home midafternoon, opted to work more with the magnetic alignment tool with the wedges.  Used it to work on face position at the bottom of the swing arc - followed up with easy pitches up to 50yds.  Seeing better face control and over improved accuracy toward target…session was cut short with pop up rain showers.

      This is a great discussion. Other parts of the course where there are houses have white stakes and signs. This keeps people from trespassing and hitting shots on their property. There is another county road on the east side of the course that does not have white stakes like the hole I described. I checked the score card and there is nothing to indicate these roadways are OB. I think a county drainage ditch would be considered government right-of-way so it is the peoples land 🤣. But you are in the power industry and know more about those sorts of things than me.
