Get the irons if you hit them better than the MP 57s, but not if you just want everything to match. Nothing at all wrong with all matching clubs, I do like the look of it.

I both like and dislike matching clubs.. Like because it looks nice, but dislike because all matching clubs looks like you only bought them just for that, just to match, and is kinda corny to me. But whatever helps you out go with it.

If money were not an issue, and I could keep buying new clubs whenever a set came out that I wanted (note: I'm not claiming this to be what you're doing), I might have a set of Nike VR irons and wedges in my bag at the moment. I'd almost certainly have a Nike Method putter in this situation. That would put me at 14 Nike clubs, not because they're Nike, but because they'd be the ones I want.

Lots of people play with 14 TaylorMade clubs. It's probably the most common single-brand bag of clubs I see. All Titleist clubs isn't uncommon among better players, either.

In short, play the clubs that you like. But make sure they're the clubs you like: success with the g15 woods doesn't guarantee success with the g15 irons - they're a slightly different animal. But if you like the g15 irons, and you can afford putting them in your bag, do so irrespective of which clubs would be their new neighbors.

In my opinion, as a 7 hcap you can get away with a bag of matching clubs, because you have a bit of game. I believe a matching set of clubs will always draw a bit more attention from other golfers than a pick-n-mix set! If you can walk the walk, good on you! One thing I can't stand is when I end up playing with a hacker who shows up on the first tee with a full set of matching, off the shelf clubs in a matching tour bag - normally TM or Nike. They've spent more than couple of grand on clubs but can't play to save their life. I think this is foolish and they just make themselves look downright silly. Whilst I am ranting, the same goes for modern, trendy, tight fitting, loud-coloured golf wear. If you have the physique and the game, then by all means dress like Camilo Villegas. If however, you have a body like the michelin man and can't hit a cow's a$$ with a banjo, then please don't make yourself look like a knob.

MP57 and G15 come down to what you like better. I wouldn't ditch the Mizuno's. They are already paid for and are awesome sticks, buttery smooth.....

My heart is set on the Ping I15 Driver though...damn I love that club, what a weapon.

Sure.

You know there is also the concept of conforming by non-conforming. Hippies in the '60s were were all about being differednt and not conforming. Strangely, if you took the time to look you would find they were all "not conforming" in pretty much the same way. In other words they were conforming, just to a different standard. If someone says you shouldn't have all of the same type of clubs, aren't they really just conforming to another standard? A standard that says your clubs should be different? When you think about it, you're the one bucking the trend and being the non-conformist by playing a set of a single brand.

Mine all match (Slazenger Raw something from a couple of years ago)... well... except for the SW, GW, and putter. The SW is some "Gary Player" something I bought at Walmart 13 years ago for $20 a couple years after I started playing. The GW is... wow... I'm not sure. It might be an old KZG club that a friend didn't want from about 8 years ago. The putter is either a Mizuno from a friend's first "nice" set 12 years ago or a Ray Cook (I think) putter he didn't want about that same time. I'll just randomly switch between them every so often.

You'll get away with matching clubs. Now if you add to that matching bag, matching glove, matching ball, matching hat, matching shirt, and matching ball marker, then you'll be that guy. You don't wanna be that guy .

Hahahhaha, made me laugh and look in the mirror..............i have mizuno irons, a minzuo stand bag, and usually wear a mizuno hat out on the course. However, my wedges, woods, clothing, gloves, etc. are not mizuno. I think i might be borderline.........."that guy", please tell me it ain't so :)

I do not all match yet. But I am slowing going over to Titleist. I like their AP2's and the 909D2. I also currently use Titleist Vokey wedges, Nike pro combo irons, Ping putter, taylor made utlity wood, and Nike 3wood. This winter will be a revamping of all my golf gear. But the only reason I will have matching clubs is because, it is what fits me. I'm not going to buy something to just make it LOOK cool in my bag. I'll impress people with my shots rather than whats in my bag.

Unless someone is paying me to play their clubs, I don't care if they match. I have TMade Driver/3W, Adams A2OS3-PW, and Nike VRed Wedges. I am toying with the thought of replacing the 7-PW from the Adams set to something with better feel. The bottom line is, I only care about what shows up on the score card.

Matching smatching. Play whatever you like to play. I was checking out 3 woods the other day to replace my ancient one. I picked up the nike dymo, since my driver and hybrids are nike, but I really didn't like it. I really liked the look and feel of the Talyor Made and the Cleveland 3 woods (the Cobra wasn't too bad either). I love my hybrids, but couldn't have liked the Dymo less.

    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
    • So, Brendan Sorsby, Texas Tech transfer QB, was found guilty of sports betting by the NCAA. He admitted to it. He placed thousands of bets over multiple years while at Indiana and Cincinnati. This included betting on his own teams.  The NCAA rules ban athletes from betting on any sport (college or pro).  A retired visiting judge from Tarrant County, Texas has put an injunction on the NCAA ruling. He is a visiting judge because the first judge was a graduate and big fan of Texas Tech, and he recused himself. The judged ruled the following... "Under Curry's order, Sorsby is permitted to play for Texas Tech's 2026 season on the condition that he continues his treatment for a gambling and anxiety disorder and serves a two-game suspension (missing games against Abilene Christian and Oregon State)."  Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly care for the NCAA. That still doesn't mean that a college can choose when or where to say, "Yea we agree to these rules for all our sports, well except in this case." Here is a breakdown from S&W. The Hidden Weapon in Sorsby’s Injunction: How a Lubbock County Court Order Quietly Neutralized the NCAA’s Most Powerful Enforcement Tool - Law Offices of Snell & Wilmer By Ryan J. Regula On June 8, 2026, Lubbock County District Court Judge Ken Curry issued a temporary injunction in Brendan Sorsby v. National Collegiate Athletic Association, Cause No. DC-2026-CV-0791 (99th Judicial District... The main judgement made sense. Sorsby, I am going to have all this harm done to me if I don't get to play. The Judge, I agree. The penalty for gambling is too harsh, so here are all these things you must do, and I will grant this injunction against the NCAA. Basically, an analogy would be when a person goes into court for a DUI and they agree to all these other things to not end up in jail.  What sucks for the NCAA is the NCAA has appealed to Texas’ Seventh Court of Appeals, based in Amarillo. All four justices that preside over the court are graduates of Texas Tech University School of Law. It would be hilarious if all four of them had to recuse themselves 🤣. For those who like to read legal rulings...
    • The chatter in my brain is when the distance is between clubs since I am pretty weak at shortened backswings, etc. I try to simply decide if being long or short is the better outcome and choose my club based on that and simply not even try for the “real” distance.  For me a full normal swing is what I strive for.
    • I saw this comment made in a golf article... "Most golfers stand over a 4- or 5-iron still negotiating with themselves. They think about how hard to swing, whether they have the right club, if they have the aim correct and more. It’s a lot to deal with and long irons punish the “half-in” golf swing." I am not sure the "most golfers" is correct regarding the bolded part. I can understand if there is a bunker, water, and/or OB that a lot of golfers would be fixated on that. I am not sure that leads to ending up more times there. Pending your level in golf, the variance is so large in outcomes, it could be just with in the expected outcomes. I can understand if have a big lake on the right side of the hole being one of the most terrifying shots for right-handed amateur golfers.  I am not sure many golfers are standing over the ball talking to themselves, "Ok, maybe I should step back and pull the 4-iron. Am I lined up right? Oh, the wind came up, should I swing harder? What am I going to have for dinner tonight, maybe steak. (Joking, somewhat 😛)" A question is that how much chatter do you get while standing over the ball. Are you questioning the everything about your golf shot?
