I'm rooting for Elkington. Love that swing tempo.

Elkington's swing looks like it's incorporating some S&T; elements. Is he and when did he start?

He's been on and off with it for over five years. He was actually doing a drill through the first 54 to 63 holes of the PGA Championship in 2005. The drill is now known as "The Elkington Drill."

Steve's a "student" of the swing and has a GSED as well, so he plays around with different theories. No idea why - I think he should pick something he thinks will work and stick with it. But to answer the question, yes, basically.

Man, Brian Gay had a tale of Thursday to Sunday. Birdie-free round of 72 on Thursday, bogey-free round of 63 today.

I'm lost here - what's a GSED?

To channel Verne Lundquist (who isn't working this tournament), Blake Adams and Jason Day must be the sickest men in America right now. Both are wet on the 18th. I hope Brian Gay's still there.

Looked like Blake Adams was aligned too far left before he hit that shot into the water ... I realize he was trying to execute a low fade but I was thinking water from the beginning ... this game of golf smh.

That's a great understanding of the rules. Instead of trying to drop from where the ball entered the hazard (on a steep bank), Day goes to an equidistant point on the other side to have an easy pitch to the hole and secure the win.

Definitely a great understanding of the rules ... I didn't catch 100% of what was being said, was it obvious whether it was Day and his caddie or the tournament official who came up with the alternative drop location?

what a sunday! so me and my girl got to the course around one o'clock, ate some overly expensive burgers(which were quite good, btw) and slowly walked from the 18 tracing back to the final pairing. we got to see day and adams making the turn, then watched pavin and spieth deuling on 14, and KP just after them. we posted up on 17 green and waited for the final group to play through. as i'm walking along 18 with the final pair, i see jason pulling out a 4 iron to hit into the green, into the wind. i tried to esp to him this was a horrible idea, but it didn't work. the shot came off clean with a 10 yd draw going straight at the pin, but hit the fringe and rolled back into the water. pretty sure blake didn't see it either cause if he had i'm sure he would have chipped out into the fairway. but all in all, an exciting, dramatic finish. now i'm going on a mission to find some passes to colonial.

If you don't have a laser range finder and pga ruling official are you allowed to best guess another equidistant point?

yeah, i was wondering what they were doing over there. i didn't have a radio, so i didn't hear anything about the ruling. but his ball wouldn't have stayed up on the same hill where it rolled in. he had to drop elsewhere.

I just read the home page article and I was wondering the Byron Nelson point too. Why was the field so weak? I thought the Byron Nelson usually had a stronger field.

That's part of it, at least: we've come to associate great fields as ones including the best international players, and the majority of them were in Wentworth this weekend. Also consider that before the Players Championship moved to May in 2007, there wasn't a marquee tournament during the month that dictated players' schedules. Finally, the quality of the host venue plays a larger role now in determining the status of an event than it once did, and there's no way to separate the TPC Four Seasons from its reality of a mediocre 80s-era residential course surrounded by office parks.

Ah, yes, seeing the street traffic on that par 3 - kind of looked like a muni. Not to take anything away from the course.

Sorry for veering off golf, but also, to me, the HP name doesn't make me think good thoughts. I think of all those unfortunate employees who were laid off during the management shake up.
