yea whats the name of that one announcer on the far left that sits closest to the main girl anouncer. He was hatin on Tiger big time, lol

yeah, i don't know. but a lot of the things he said were just plain stupid. he said something like ''tiger thinks he owns the world...'' or something to that extent. which is completely baseless and uncalled for.

tiger is real about his feelings, and phil always says what you want to hear.

I see things differently.......Tiger says things that aren't true in attempt to convince people there is still a mile between himself and the rest of the professional golf community.....for example, after the round Tiger says that he "made three mental mistakes that cost him"......by that, he trying to tell everyone that he is still the "man," is really in control of his game and should have won, but made some judgment errors (which are, of course, easily corrected the next time out)......I remember Tiger missed an important four foot putt during a round and afterword called it a "tricky eight footer"..........Lastly, Tiger has absolutlely no perspective....he shows very little graciousness and doesn't appear to appreciate everything that the game has given him....it is almost as if Tiger feels entitled and that the world owes "him" something.....

On the other side of the spectrum, Lefty seems to always keep the big picture in mind...he understands how lucky he is and how much the game of golf has provided to him and his family.....at the end of the day, a less than stellar final round at the US Open is really "small stuff" in the grand scheme of things.....in my opinion, Lefty "gets it" and I am not sure Tiger does....... Oh, and for those that say Tiger's attitude is part of what makes him great, please see Jack Nicklaus, the greatest golfer of all time, who is/was a gentleman through and through and very much "got it" along the way...

Peoples descisons on tigers game mostly depened on pre-exisiting bias for or agaist him. Those that hate him will continue to over anyalzie his every bad shot and interview, and those amoung his fans will say he is re-gaining his dominant form. I think thats where it is with Tiger. Its mostly basless bias opinons. This whole phil/tiger thing is really starting to have a Magic vs Bird feel to it, IMO.

I do belive though that tiger is too much of a freakish talent to stay winless for very much longer. I actually think he played a gritty final round, considering the conditions. +3 or +4 wasnt really that bad of a round yesterday, but not good enough to win considering where Tiger was in the standings.

I would agree with the below for the most part.

In professional sports, virtually all of the top athletes blame everything but themselves when they fail to get the job done. When they win, it's all them, and when they lose, it's something else. It's something that they have to do, that they have to believe, if they can keep feeling as if they're invincible and capable of anything. But it's a fine line. I have no doubt Phil believes this to some extent, but is better able to say the thing(s) people want to hear rather than to continue with the "I am awesome" shield. Then again, Phil's won four majors to Tiger's 14. But the corollary might be Jack - he was able to blame outside factors in his mind but still give a "good" answer.

what do you think it would be like back when Pebbly required that you use a local caddy... Jack won a tourniment with a guy who only played golf a few times. Basically jack only wanted to know where the hole was.. Shows you the difference in player that he can win with his own mind than trying to rely on a caddy.

People bringing up his personal life constantly is getting a little old now. It seems like every time they talk about him its like "no matter how you feel about his transgressions....." Or "No matter what you think about him as a person....."

I mean seriously these guys are delusional if they dont think things like this go on regularly. Not once has any one of them said a WORD About Monty cheating on his wife and hes the Ryder Cup captain.

I get that Tiger is in a different stratosphere than these other people but eventually people are going to have to let it go. Kobe was accused of rape and admitted infidelities (the NBA has something like a 2% marriage success rate...) and nobody mentions anything about it anymore and in fact he was cheered LOUDER for a while during his rape case by a lot of fans but it feels like people are going to hang this over Tigers head forever. I mean Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, ALL Known "womanizers" but people let them slide.

I honestly feel like there was a lot of pent up animosity towards Tiger from some of the guys at the golf channel and now its their time to let it out. Not once did they even talk about Phil saying "I could probably tell you why there were no 66's out there but it wouldnt sound good" you know damn well what he was getting at he didnt even need to say it but the golf channel guys let that slide.

first of all, its prolly because we are talking about a black man in a white mans sport. there is deep seated and often times subconscious animosity.

second, about monty, do you really want to think about him having sex and who hes having sex with? shudder....

If Tiger was from across the pond and hasn't been a factor in years no one in the U.S. would talk about it because they wouldn't care. Tiger catches the crap because he is an icon in the U.S. and I know it's getting old but it won't stop until his divorce is done. Once he is back to playing a regular schedule things will die off and he live whatever kind of life he chooses too.

Colin007, go away. There isn't any animosity due to race. Tiger hasn't even ebraced his african american heritage, and the NAACP has based him for it. They think he should have become a spokes person for them, when he didn't speak out at all for any cause related to his african american heritage. People are pissed because he gets billions to screw around on the side. It wasn't him that forced you to buy nike gear, there wasn't a gun to your head.

We as american's hold our sports heros on an pedistal so high that there's no way for them to stand atop it. We want him to be perfect because basically he was close to perfect as there was in golf. When he broke down mentally, got addicted to sex, cheated on his wife, we think he needs to apologize to use, thats a bunch of BS. A survey was done, nearly 1/4 men cheat on there wives, Tiger just fell into that 25%. So don't think he's the only one.

Honestly this sense of entitlement has made everyone idiots.

As much as I hated seeing Tiger play so well yesterday, it was worth it to watch him crash and burn today. Anyone see the telling post round interviews with Tiger and then Phil? Tiger was given a "gimme question" like "what positives can you take away from today's round?". He answers negatively like a complete a-hole. Phil isn't given a gimme question because they don't need to try to protect his image and Phil talked about his struggles with the putter then talks about how great the tournament at Pebble Beach was. That's why I always want Tiger to lose right there....he's just not very likable. Phil is great and I'm always wanting him to do well. Note that I'm not saying anything negative about Tiger's game. He's unreal and will, sadly, be back on top before long. Anyone catch the pitiful dialogue on Saturday where the announcers were saying that now that Tiger's playing well it's OK to root for him again (like he's a different person because his pants are up, he's not at Denny's and he's hitting a golf ball well)?

Pretty classless and against the spirit of the game to root against a golfer. I will never root for a golfer to miss or hit poor shots.

Wow. That's harsh mate.

I agree Tiger needs some better PR advice/expertise. But Jack Nicklaus never had to go through what Tiger has to go through on a daily basis. Tiger is on another paradigm of lifestyle that only Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson could relate too. So seek some understanding. Phil gets it in terms of PR. The most loved by the fans and the most hated among the players. From what I've read Phil is a whiny bitch who feels he's entitled to five star sevice 24/7.

Give me a break, in what kind of competitve sport would you root for the opposite team/opponent? This is a great attitude for your local country club, since the objective is completly different - you play against the course and your handicap. But as soon as millions of dollars are on the line, this kind of etiquette goes right out of the window, especially if they are in direct competition atop of the leaderboard.

i've never once felt tiger came off as if he's owed something. you're just echoing baseless platitudes from the tiger hating x-pro's over at GC.

no, he's not ''lucky,'' he's good. the game of golf hasn't provided tiger with anything. tiger, his dad, butch harmon, etc. has provided tiger with what he needed to earn all the stuff he's got. why don't you ask those guys struggling on the nationwide tour how much golf has provided for them. the course is simply a medium to see who has the best set of skills, the course doesn't give you anything, you must take it, or you will lose.

Well said.

Tiger isn't lucky, hes dedicated and a hard worker. He's just better than everyone else. If Phil was as dedicated, he wouldn't have man boobs

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
