Common causes of a hook?

There is no way i am over the top.

If anything I am trying to avoid this and swinging 'out' too far causing these hooks.

Yes. Check out some of the information on ball flight laws (new). Fighting a hook by swinging farther from the inside can often result in larger hooks. Took me years to learn that!

most of my driver hooks were caused by a too flat swing plane. adressing the ball with my hands lower and closer to my body really helps me,

Not harsh at all. The purpose of this section of the forum is to learn so we can all become better players. Being that I respect your opinions iacas, you are right. Now that I think about it, it absolutely cannot be an over the top swing. As for ball flight laws and hitting to right field, I was referring to this

For example, if the clubface is 3° open at impact but the swing path is 6° inside-out, the ball will start right (open clubface relative to the target) and curve left (closed clubface relative to the swing path)." Obviously, my original post gave the complete wrong message and yes, as a S&T; believer, that was careless. There is no way to really know exactly what is happenign anyway without seeing a video. As I said, we are all here to learn and there is nothing wrong with that? Cheers...
