I like any hole that has a forced carry involved with it.. Especially forced carries over water.

These types of holes offer up a little more excitement for me.

I even practice simulated forced carry shots as a way to limit the intimidation factor these types of holes provide when playing for a score..

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

You SOB.  😀  Can you get me on there?

You wouldn't believe how lucky I was. I was an alternate because someone couldn't make it and I doubt I will get another shot at it. Golf trip of a lifetime.

Nice.  I've played a couple of courses near there but didn't have the status or pull to get on that one.  Wondering if "Long-Time Member" of TST would do the job???  For both of us!  I just noticed we have the same status.

We were able to play unaccompanied so it isn't impossible, but the guy I played with who knows the member has a long list of suitors. They allow an hour of unaccompanied golf in the mornings, between 7:30 and 8:30. The members don't play at that hour because, when we were there in October, it is so cold but the playing conditions were perfect.

Isn’t that on Whistling Straits? Maybe not the Straits course, but the Irish maybe?

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. 😊 It's Cypress Point, in CA.  Very exclusive.  It used to be in the rotation in the Pebble Beach Tournament.

Heck, I’d love to play Cypress Point just once in my lifetime, even though it’s expensive (not to mention difficult).

Very good educated guess though!  I'm in a hotel bar (Uh, I mean public library) and someone peeking at my screen suggested it was Wolf Creek in Nevada.  Hmmm...

I assume the hole you thought this was can be found here:

I suspected that it was the course. You have to be seriously connected to get to play there!

Yes! Remember the shot of Clint Eastwood, and a bunch of others, hanging onto another actor's belt, I believe it's Orson
Bean, to keep him from falling into the sea after hitting his shot? You may if you are as old as I am!

And yes, Cypress Point is SERIOUSLY private! It's more private than Augusta National. I once read where they turned down a request by Barack Obama to play!

Was Obama still just a Senator among 100?  Or the President at the time?

    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
