I used to play with a guy who got robbed on a golf course in Birmingham, Alabama. Some young boys jumped the fence and pulled a pistol on him and his partner. They both lost their wallets. After that he always carried a pistol in his golf bag.
Any of you guys ever felt the need to carry a pistol to a golf course?

what the hell? The manager at my course once saw a guy walk across a course he used to manage, carrying a sawed-off shotgun. The most I ever would carry is a knife. Which reminds me, I should put a knife in the bag...

In the bag:
Driver: 907 D2/Proforce V2 R-flex
Hybrid: Burner '07 3 Hybrid/Re-Ax Shaft/19* (4* draw bias)
Irons: AP1 4-7i
AP2 8-PWedges: Spin Milled Tour Chrome (52.06/56.11) VR Forged Chrome 60.06Putter: Ignite 001 Ball: Pro V1/ One Tour/

I'd have no problem carrying one-I used to be a cop, and now I live in AZ, so I've carried a gun lots of places. Would really add to the weight of the bag if I was walking...;)

Dont ever bring a knife to a gun fight.

Sorry, couldnt resist. I have no problem at all with it. I pretty much carry one everywhere I go.

Having been to and through Birmingham many times, that doesn't surprise me whatsoever.

However I don't believe I could carry a pistol in my bag. (and I'm not red neck enough to keep my shot gun in the slot next to my driver lol)

If there is any course I've played that I would feel the need to be armed on, it would be Clifton Park Golf Course located in Baltimore City. About 4-5 holes border a busy roadway and another two border a city high school where you always wonder if the locals will try anything. I would never carry a weapon onto the course (a. it's illegal and b. there's the increased possibility of something going wrong), but I do understand and sympathize with those concerned about getting robbed.

I would carry a knife, just because of having multi uses. And I live in CA, where you can't obtain a concealed weapons permit.

Assuming you carry 14, which club do you remove to add the pistol?

What Bel Air Ave makes you a little nervous? I'm actually shocked that nothing does happen there considering the food depot across the street has someone getting robbed hourly. I've only played there once but I would certainly bring my gun with me if I go back.

I read the title and thought I was on a cycling site for a moment.

Years ago I was playing a course in southern California (Garden Grove or Santa Ana) and right around dusk all kinds of people started moving out of the shadows on the perimeter of the course, kind of like one of those Zombie movies. No one really bothered the four of us as we finished our round, but you can bet a golden nickel that we were playing ready golf for the final two holes. Don't know if a firearm would have been of much use, probably could have borrowed one from one of the Zombies if we really needed one, but we finished and bugged out of there. I think I drove my car home still wearing my golf spikes. Oh well, the golf course must have been the local hangout after hours.

Anyway, uh, what was the question? Don't ask, don't tell, Wisconsin frowns upon concealed hardware so use your software, 'tis better to have what you don't need than need what you don't have (I've got another dozen lines but I'll stop here.) Have 9 iron, will travel.

My neighbor keeps trying to get me to play there but I drove by there one day after work because traffice was so bad I took a detour. I told myself I would NEVER play that course LOL! I normally play Mt. Pleasant but have heard a couple stories about people getting robbed on the 14th and 15th hole. I play at 6 sunday mornings so (knock on wood) the idiots are still sleeping. But yes Clifton park is scary haha

I carry everywhere I go.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

Dont ever bring a knife to a gun fight.

+1

Don't keep it in the golf bag though. If it's out of reach, it might as well be in the truck.

One of the same things that I like about being an American. I know I'll probably never need a gun, but I don't want or need someone or something else deciding that I can't have one. There's still plenty of violent crime in the U.K., but that's actually not the point. I'm a law-abiding citizen, and my ownership of a firearm doesn't increase crime.

Must be a southern thing. I don't carry a gun on a golf course because I believe it causes more problems than it solves. A well-placed Pro V-1 upside the head of any would be assailant should suffice.
My Implements of Destruction (carried in a Hoofer Lite bag):

yeah im not having a go or anything, i actually think America is awesome and i know there's a lot of violent crime over here, heck we just had a week of a guy in hiding with a sawn off shotgun after shooting his ex girlfriend, her new boyfriend and a policeman and then eventually shooting himself after an 8 hour stand off with the police, so i know we're far from perfect, id just feel paranoid going out knowing that anybody could have a lethal weapon on them at any time legally
