I've ordered a set of custom fitted ping G15 irons (4i-SW) with a matching ping tour-w 60 degrees wedge. Later on, i feel that the PW, UW (gap), SW are a little too bulky and i'm thinking of replacing them with titleist vokey. The problem is that the ping loft is a little unusual:

Ping G15 8i: 36 deg
Ping G15 9i: 40 deg
Ping G15 PW: 45 deg
Ping G15 UW: 50 deg
Ping G15 SW: 54 deg
Ping Tour X: 60 deg

i have studied the Dave Pelz's short game bible and am really keen on getting 3 or 4 wedges system. Which of the following should i go for?:

Option 1:

Ping G15 9i: 40 deg
Ping G15 PW: 45 deg
Ping G15 UW: 50 deg -> replaced by vokey 50 deg
Ping G15 SW: 54 deg -> replaced by vokey 54 deg
Ping Tour X: 60 deg

Option 2:

Ping G15 9i: 40 deg
Ping G15 PW: 45 deg
Ping G15 UW: 50 deg -> replaced by 2 vokey: 48 and 52 deg
Ping G15 SW: 54 deg -> replaced by vokey 56 deg
Ping Tour X: 60 deg

Any other suggestion?

As I said in your OP, I think if you are seriouse about going 4 wedges (after reading a short game bible) I would drop the G15 thought (or any GI Wedge) and go with option 2.
IMHO you need to be using a more traditional wedge, as the G15 SW/UW/LW (or GI club in anything above a PW) have such large soles you are not going to get the feel you need.

am i seeing this correctly...?

Option 2, you will hve 5 wedges...? 45, 48, 52, 56, 60?

a bit overkill don't you think?

People over analyze and calculate their wedges way too much. I use my 56* for everything...literally everything. I pull my 60 maybe once or twice in a round.

If you are really set on 4 wedges, go with option 1 and be done with it.

At the handicap you are (and I am not much better so no disrespect) but do you really need all those wedges anyway. Maybe I am a little weird but my Eye 2's have a PW that is a shy 51* but that is all I need. If I am within 75 yards this club can get me within 10 ft of the pin anyway. But if I needed all those wedges I would say option 1 with the Vokey's. I would think they would have a much better wedge sole and more workability than the G series.

I agree. go with option 1 for sure if you really want to have that many wedges. my setup goes 45* PW, 50* GW, 54* SW(vokey), 60* LW(vokey). 4 wedges. i really don't need the 60*, but it really comes in handy.

By the way a Pitching Wedge does count as one of your wedges.

That's a tough situation. I would ditch and GI wedge, including the PW. I would have maybe a 6* gap, with a 46* PW, 52* gap, and 58* sand. And that's all.

+1

Too many wedge options leads to too much indecision and therfore poor shots for many players. I use my 56* for practically every greenside shot as well, I don't even carry a 60*.

    • From all I have read, any known long term effects of an mRNA vaccine manifests within the first two months. It does NOT affect genetic makeup since it never enters the nucleus.  Conditions/effects that manifest over longer periods of time are caused by repeat use/exposure at some frequency that builds up incrementally...like.. tobacco or your garden variety narcotics, lead, arsenic, etc.
    • I read the whole thing. I am thinking a "whole enchilada" badge should be awarded!   Seriously, the experience is playing in a national NCAA championship. While D3 is not as competitive as D1 streaming live on the Golf Channel, it is still the national championship. While no one wants to see their kid card a double or triple to start their round, it is still the national championship.  Oh, and it is competition golf. Everyone knows what they signed up for. The player seemed to accept his fate, and the coach should know better. Sorry but even if you don't have a shot of advancing or winning, you still follow the rules and protect the field.
    • I said in my post, let’s start simple with 2-years.         You call it stubbornness, I call it prudence. Others disagree with “pretty damn effective” against current variants, let alone those to come.   It’s also worth noting that different vaccines have different levels of effectiveness.   Where Do COVID Vaccines Stand Against the Variants? Drug makers scramble to adapt vaccines to coronavirus variants before they outwit our immune systems.     Again, your personal opinion. And yes, I read and understand the science as well.   Not necessarily. Oftentimes it was my duty to actually put people in harms way…
    • Of course.  Almost all of us strive, through research and training and other methods, to stay alive.   Military or not.  But in the military you must be willing to put yourself in harm's way to protect your country.  The result could be your death.  When you go in you know this.
    • Debunking mRNA Vaccine Misconceptions—An Overview for Medical Professionals mRNA vaccines are designed to withstand many variants.  It is literally impossible to say what variants will arise though. To the third, why would that matter on whether you take it or not? If you take more, you take more.  I'd assume the first two questions are the key for you, the third is more curiosity.  Would the third be a make it or break it moment?  If anything, it could be yearly.  But the more people vaccinate, the less likely it is we'd need to take more.
