When he first pointed to the shadow/sliver of light I thought he was pointing to his grounding the club. What a cruddy way to go out. Gut wrenching way to have another major slip through your hands.

Added: Way to react like a true professional Dustin. Go, Bubba!

Lets see how Kaymer plays after this decision, will he crumble? Can Bubba win another. I think so.

wow gut wrenching right there. I agree it sucks, but if they discussed the bunker situation it's his and his caddies job to know that or have enough sense to ask an official. Either way wanted to see him win it, now it's go Bubba!!

What a shambles this is. How on earth could the PGA call those sand areas bunkers when thousands of fans are trampling around them all week. Theyve wrecked what was a great tournament. A bad result for golf whatever happens.

if they can't keep up proper course conditions with fans on it then don't hold the tournament there...

agree completely. If you are going to have to play out of tiretracks and not ground your club why even rake any of the bunkers?

my issue is, how would you know if an area was originally constructed as a bunker versus a spot that has been worn down to the sand from people wearing away the grass?

A) He had a great lie.

B) He was fortunate that he missed his shot SO FAR RIGHT that he GOT that good, trampled lie. C) Spectators have to walk in bunkers or they'd have nowhere else to walk. D) They were told about the bunkers, and it's a rule.

And after all the talk in the media about the 1000+ _bunkers_, one should have known that places with sand just might BE a bunker.. I'm sorry, but im not in tears of the "injustice".

I agree. Just looked like a worn down area made by the spectators. But since it was truly a bunker, what else could they do but call a penalty. Unfortunate as this is what will be talked about instead of the winner.

You know what's funny is that a lot of people are saying it's garbage and they shouldn't hold a tourney there. You think Dustin was the only player to hit it in a bunker that was trampled on by the gallery? Yet players weren't getting penalized non stop all week because they knew the rules unfortunately Dustin didn't mind his surroundings. I wanted t see him win and it was heartbreaking to watch that happen but it's part of golf and the rules.

Agree completely. It was obviously a bunker when you saw it from a pulled-back camera angle. This guy knows a lot of money is at stake, between he and his caddy if there was any question, it's not hard to raise your hand and get the attention of a rules official...

Ian Poulter tweeted a great point, 1000 plus bunkers and maybe 100 rakes. I'd say if it's a bunker, put a rake in it, otherwise it's a waste area.

There are

no waste areas on the course.

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club? • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
    • 43 (6 over) Couple bogies, couple Pars, a birdie and no doubles. Not bad for first 9 of the year.
    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
