I realized this past weekend that I really need the 52. I really needed to use some different clubs for shots not just the ones I am comfortable with

hmm, depends...

i would say i use the PW 75% of the time for chipping, 9-iron 8% of the time, SW 6% of the time, and LW - 4% of the time, Putter - 2%

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I personally like to use one club and make adjustments in ball position to determine the type of shot; a consistent weight and shaft length is important to me to feel comfortable with my around-the-green play. If my ball is off the fringe, I'll still use my 60 wedge, but just play the ball about 5 inches off my right foot (I chip/pitch with my feet angled towards the target) and that'll allow me to deloft the club and hit more of a runner. I think putting and around-the-green play is all about comfort and feel and if you are able to consistently hit the shots you want with one club, no need to change.

To all the one-club chippers out there: Expand your horizons. No matter how good you are with the sand wedge or (fill in the blank), you would be better and more able to deal with the endless variety of possibly necessary shots if you used other irons when they are appropriate.

I agree with CalBoomer. Looks at the situation you're in, then pick a club based on the shot needed. I use everything in the bag from an L wedge to a 26* hybrid for chipping and never pitch when I can chip.
