May just be me (probably is!) but he looks to have much better tempo in this earlier swing cf . now. To me, his current swing is pretty much just a thrash from the top; not much control at all. Saw him say once that he likes to hit ~80% max.....phhh. I much prefer his '96 swing cf . the current version. Physique as applied to golf was better then as well; think he's somewhat over-muscled these days.

I keep saying the three things I'd fix with Tiger would be hand path, shoulder pitch, and keeping his left knee flexed a bit longer so he can go forward more. Hand path first, but the other two in no particular order.

you mean he jumps too soon?

Tiger back then was well across the line. Some people can play like that (Tim Clark) but not everyone.

I remember this too. Especially with the wedges, or at least that's what the announcers emphasized. I remember he was flying the green alot on wedge shots, no?

He spins too soon. His jump is okay.

Agreed. Hidden in his impressively fast hips was how far FORWARD the hips got in his earlier days. Sure, they spun like crazy, but they got forward more. Tiger still spins them like crazy (maybe 80 to 90%), but he's lost a good bit more of the forward.

Erik, can you elaborate on Shoulder pitch?

You can tell Foley looks up to Bennett for alot of his teaching ideas. He talks alot like bennett as far as speech. When I heard Bennett talk on a video, I was thinking wow his voice sounds alot like Foley. People often talk like their teachers from what Ive seen

Does this mean Tiger is now keping most his weight on his left side during the swing?

The dirty little secret is that in an S&T; swing, there's still a weight transfer.

Let's stick to the topic though, eh? His amateur/rookie swing, not his Foley-ized swing.

Loose, lashing the ball, loving life. Ah, youth! Bonus points for the appropriate Stereophonics track.

The most interesting thing for me about his swing in the first video in the OP is that his tempo is actually pretty good There is a constant acceleration throughout the entire swing. I also like the slight pause at the top of the swing which allows him to really move incredibly over onto his left side. If there is one part of that old swing we can all try to mimic, it's paying attention to the amount of movement he makes towards the left with his hips on the downswing. He way he moves through the ball with that part of his body is absolutley BEAUTIFUL!

I'm not sure who that is, might have just been a guest caddie seeing as he was playing in a charity event and in Japan.

Anyone remember this years masters when Tiger yelled out ''YOU SUCK'' after pulling his iron on the par 3? Here is a similar situation when he pulls his iron on his second shot on one of the holes while in Japan 1997 I thought it was funny enough to put on youtube
