What i like about your swing is that you have absolutely no arm lift, when your upper body finishes turning that's it,no lift, you just go.Good stuff.

That is, without a doubt, one of the best swings I've seen posted on this board. Your backswing looks about half as long as your follow through - which reminds me of maple syrup.

I'd look but I hate using anything other than Vimeo or YouTube (because I can download the source video easily from those sites). Any chance you can post them on a site like those two (which can also embed the videos in the thread post itself)?

heres some youtube for you

sorry for the low quality vid and bad angles - I know you need better to properly assess a swing - driver side - driver rear view - 8i side view

Nice smooth swing... great finish.

When you get home tonight take an old 5 iron and swing to the top with your back close to (~12") from a nice, sturdy wall.

I bet I can guess what your coach will ask you to work on. :)

I know i still have a bit of sway on the backswing.....been workin on that a lot this year WAAAAYYYYY better than 2009's swing tho i reall dont like the shortness of the backswing tho...it was a tip from a previous lesson, that i think is a band aid.....but im not really sure

My swing is/was similar to yours, and I bet we've got the same types of missed shots too...

I'll load a new video soon as the change was dramatic, but look at how laid-off the club is 1/2 and 3/4 of the way back (you are better than i was here). The clubhead falls way below the ideal plane on the way back, and it's easy to get stuck from that position.

My swing coach had me stand a bit closer to the ball (I too was a bit on my heels and too far away), and he made sure my first move was 1-piece inside with my hands, keeping the clubhead well outside of my hands at 1/2 back. He challenged me to try and bring the butt of the club as close to my right hip as I could. He also got rid of my wristy waggle. All of this has worked to bring my hands deeper while keeping the club in front of my chest going back... about as opposite as my old swing was.

Things felt awful, but the results have been pretty staggering. It's much easier to find the correct plane coming into the ball, and I'm much less likely to get stuck. Things are taking hold now, and I'm hitting much more accurate shots.

Best of luck over the winter!

The side-by-side DTL swings are pretty unreal.

You may very well work on this:

But something else might be more important first, so maybe not.

??? work on what....

Sorry... Thought you'd been around long enough to know what I was referring to there.

Ask yourself this question: on what plane are you swinging your hands and the clubhead and the shaft in this image?

??? work on what....

Based on something I worked on with my short irons and driver this summer, try to keep the clubhead travelling down the target line a bit longer on the way back. It feels awkward at first, but then when you get it BLAM - everything is on plane and you wonder how that happened.

EDIT: I guess it's been confirmed that I was looking at the right thing.

No worries man. Seeing it for the first time is always eye-opening. You're a 2.9... just imagine how things can improve with a few small changes.

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
