That is exactly the problem. AK is in a stage right now where he isn't fully appreciative of what he has and many be taking things for granted; especially, his golf game. That is the issue. Having a million dollars in the bank doesn't give you the right to act like an a**, 25 years old or not.

Being an ass? He was loud in a casino. Casino's are loud to begin with. If he truly did anythig wrong they would have kicked him out. I remeber being his age and younger. I had a ton of fun and some shennanigans too. Add millions of dollars into the equation and things will happen. Whatever happened to what happens in vegas stays in vegas anyhow.

Motteler wouldn't understand what it is like to be on your own anway seeing as he still lives with mom and dad at 27.

You know nothing about me shadess, I should give you negative rep for such stupid comment attacking me. Thats all Il say on that.

Nothing wrong with having a little fun but IMO, Anthony needs to be focused on recovery and getting his game back instead of popping hundreds of bottles in Vegas. Seen too many talented players throw it away, ex John Daly. What does John Daly say about his earlier days, "I wish I would of respected my tour card alot more." Many other examples too

Sure, there is nothing wrong with having fun. But the topic in this post evolved to the status of his game as a PGA Tour player and in my opinion, he is walking on a fine line if he doesn't smarten up and fast. No one said not to have fun, and it's his life to live so he can do whatever he wants.

I'm hard on AK because I like him ALOT as a player and would hate to see all of the talent that he has thrown away because he was irresponsible in his public actions which took from his dedication to the game. You can have as much fun as you want, but to what expense???

I think he will be fine. It is the silly season after all. I don't think his public actions take away from his dedication. The 2 are completely seperate entities.

DAMN THIS THREAD GOT SPICYYYY. lol @ motteler for "pop you in the face" comment.

as for AK, i will agree, its a bit dissapointing to have someone I really respect not take his career as seriously as other PGA tour players might. I grew up in LA near Ktown just as AK has and we're about the same age. I actually heard about him at an early age through my coach in HS who was actually Seri Pak's coach early in her career. He was always a phenominal golfer...just hope he won't throw that away. With that said, he hasn't exactly performed up to where a PGA contender should be...and where do we draw the line between "oh he's still recovering" and "maybe he needs to get his priorities in order." He's already gone through the whole partying scandal early in his rookie years...and it seemed like he's taken a turn from that...and who knows, maybe this vegas incident is an isolated incident.

He has a great opportunity, he'll be back next year and I'm confident he'll content. at the same time...I am around his age and his actions at Vegas seem pretty similar to a lot of people my age. Can't blame a guy for his success and him celebrating it. Afterall, this is really not even as big a deal as a lot of athletes scandals around the NBA and NFL...

Apparently AK set the record for most explicit language used at the casino. How did AK find, a casino Tiger's never been to?

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Anthony Kim will not be another John Daly. He'll be fine for next season and who knows maybe him, Phil, and Tiger will be fighting for that green jacket. That would be fun to see.

So we got a 20 something year old guy worth millions that had too much fun in a casino. Big #*$*#@ deal. Get a grip people. I did worse than that (by far) and I didn't have a pot to piss in. No telling what would have happened with an unlimited checking account. He is a very talented golfer doing just what he should be doing. Enjoying life.

Don't know the thumb (which one) but if it is the left one, that takes time. I had surgery and my left thumb was not right for a long, long time, and even gave up the game for a few years just because of frustration of not being able to swing quite as solidly as before -- it hurt. Then after the lay off, finally got back to playing regularly again... but the locked in feeling starting the downswing has never been quite the same and sometimes the thumb is still a little sore if I hit too many balls. So if it his left thumb, who knows the long term effect his surgery may have. Lesson to be learned... as a kid growing up, don't stiff arm a tackler on the helmut with your left thumb. Eventually you may have to have surgery.

That's what Tiger said too.

He won't be another John Daly because he won't win two majors.

Bold statement. I'm pretty sure he will win a green jacket or two at the least in his career. He plays well at Augusta. If there was a future bet for such a him winning two or majors in his career I'd definitely take it.

Would you prefer that he lie? He's being honest, and I appreciate that.

Sorry saw the video of AK and Tiger at a clinic when Tiger was hurt. Tiger was walking through different things and asking AK what he thought. AK inevatably answered everything with I dont know or thats what a caddie is for or I just hit it. Sounds like another guy I know(JD). He has also said I believe that he wishes he was good at a real sport like baseball or football. And not sure if he will stick around the golf scene too long.

Lots of talent with little drive = JD

    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.

    • Cool here's my tweak, "If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots or exposed rocks that are in the fairway or 1 club length from the fairway the tree roots and exposed rocks are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.[But relief is not allowed if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance.]
    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
    • Have you looked at Model Local Rule F-9 Relief from Tree Roots in or Close to Fairway?  You could extend this to cover exposed rocks.  The rule is recommended to be used only for areas relatively near the fairway, a player who hits a shot 20 yards in the woods doesn't really deserve relief.   Players can always take Unplayable Ball relief, they're not required to play it from a rock or a root.  Of course, they hate to take the penalty stroke too.
