I would make sure that I'm standing tall, not hunched at the setup then I would probably try to think of Tarzan beating on the chest (thanks to iacas!!) through the impact and lead the follow through with my wrist, not the club head (imagine you're chipping)

i think that is my problem as well. playing baseball for so many years, I was always taught to "roll" the fore arms to pull the ball. my right hand comes over my left, and closes the face securely. Any pics of the grip your using?

Yeah I have the same issue. I'm not quite sure why rolling is such a mis-taught topic?

whats the chances that an adjustable driver will help me? I'm not too sure, but my irons are VERY consistant, and its really just my driver that hooks. I'm hitting a cobra speed pro m driver, with cobra sz irons. Both are regular flex, 1" long.

nike sq dymo str8 fit 9.5º  stiff
cobra baffler 3 wood stiff / cobra baffler 18º hybrid stiff
cobra sz irons stiff (soon to be bridgestone j33)

odyssey 2 dot putter / taylormade penta tp, prov1, callaway hx tour (have a few boxes of each from the past couple seasons)

just a little update. I played again today, and found that choking up 3" and making my iron swing produced perfect drives. Not quite as far (235 - 245) carry, but nice and straight, and I found I can fade or draw the ball just like with my irons. So now, would it be worthwhile to have my driver shaft cut down and regripped, or just play with the choked up grip as is?

    • Both @DaveP043 and I play in our interclub matches every year, and have been team Captains as well.  There are always a few courses, mine is one, that win a lot of matches (we've won twice in the last 7 years), and we've been labeled as sandbaggers.  However, I really think that our course was rated too low (our greens just never seemed to get factored in enough), and thus our Handicaps were always a stroke or maybe 2 above, what they would've been if the course was rated higher.  And then when we went and played other courses, their slope and rating were much higher than ours, and sometimes I would get a 2 or 3 stroke bump on top of that.  It was definitely an advantage.  However, this past year, our course was rated again and the slope has gone up, so we'll see if we continue to have the same benefit.  Season starts this Sunday for us.

    • I would not do anything until I met with an instructor and got your swing looked at. There are some obvious better club options out there though. Spend 50 bucks on a lesson, practice and start piecing together a bag that works for you. Enjoy the journey.
