I shot 69 yesterday with one thought for the backswing - bend my elbow right away on the backswing, then straighten it out on the backswing.

I hit the ball pretty solidly all day. I hit a few "upper body goes ahead" type shots (low push fades) instead of the normal high push draws and I hit a few shots where the ball just pushed, but those are part of the same problem - not quite enough forward drive and a bit too much (premature) opening.

But all told, if I can shoot 69 comfortably (I didn't make a bunch of putts, but at the same time getting up and down was pretty easy) with so much room for improvement in my motion, then I'm really excited about the things I continue to work on in my swing - clubhead higher at P2, clubhead laying flatter at P4, and pushing forward while remaining squarer at P7.

P.S. Not bad for roughly my fifth round of the year.

Great round. Really nice score considering 23% fairways hit. The 80% up and down is awesome.

Yeah, it's more true than I even thought, and my expectations were pretty low.

Yeah that number stunk because, like the GIR, if I could expand the fairways by two yards I'd have hit about eight more of them.

No. Just the only one of the year. Out of five rounds or so.

I'm assuming you meant "bend the elbow on the backswing, and straighten it on the DOWNswing?

No, I actually want to feel as if I bend it on the backswing (I tended to start my takeaway with a very rigid right arm, which would push my right shoulder up way too high) and then I want to feel like I straighten it, which stops me from over-flexing it.

The golf pro at my course has been out a whopping two times this year. Between all his responsibilities, hitting the links is unfortunately at the bottom of the "to-do" list. Still, he shot even par both times...
