I recently got into Arizona State, Coastal Carolina, Methodist, and High Point. I am waiting to hear back from my reach school, Clemson. I was wondering if any of you guys have any input on the previously mentioned colleges.

I am planning to go to Clemson if I get in and if not it's Im between Coastal Carolina & ASU.

Thanks.

I don't have any information regarding the aforementioned colleges, but I remember how good I felt last year when I got into schools, so congrats!

Pick the one that has the best program for the subject you wish to study.

Arizona State is a notorious party school, and Dustin Johnson went to Coastal Carolina....thats about all I know about each school.

First, congratulations on the university acceptances.  I still remember getting the acceptance to my first-choice university back when I was a senior in high school.  I can't say I remember the acceptances to the other schools (other than a list of which accepted me).

I'd like to echo this suggestion.  While there are some schools that have a recognizable name that will mask a less-than-stellar program, there's no substitute for going to a great program.  If you're going into engineering, ASU has a top-notch program.

That having been said, there are other things to consider, such as climate: the actual weather.  Since you're on this forum, I'm going to guess that you aren't against going outside now and then.  Be wary of cold-weather schools for just this reason;  similarly, if you melt in high temperatures, be wary of too-warm-weather schools.  When I was an undergraduate, I barely left the city in which I went to school, from the time I checked in first year until a few months after graduation.  If you don't like hot weather, ASU won't be that much fun in the summer (by contrast, I would love to spend summers in the Tempe/Scottsdale/Phoenix area).

You should also consider the school's culture.  I see ASU and Methodist on your list of schools.  Did you consider the school culture when applying?  I didn't attend either, but my understanding is that there are plenty more parties at one than the other.  You may want to consider what you want socially out of your college years.  Some people can party responsibly and want a school where they always have that option.  Others want a more conservative culture.

Congrats on getting accepted anywhere.  I'd recommend going to the schools and taking the tour.  Once you're there, you'll figure out if you feel "home" there.  When I went for my undergrad, I was amazed how different some schools look in person compared to web-sites or brochures.  Good luck!

Agree, you really need to go visit the campus and get the feeling of it. Talk to current students on campus to ask about their school life and experience! Th environment itself is the most important! Because you gonna spend the next four years there and it will be one of your most important chapters in your life. I am international student, so when I applied for college I only relied on rankings, I didn't have the luxury to fly over for a campus tour. I ended up having a very hard time adjusting to the lifestyle in SoCal, even though I go to a very good school. Have fun in college, try to meet more people in your freshmen year. Friends I met in freshmen year are usually my best friend throughout my college life. Also, just follow your heart and passion, don't be afraid to make mistake, make full use of the resource that your school offers. Congratulations and good luck!

I'm an ASU Alumni and it has some very good and respected programs in Engineering, Physical Sciences and Business.  As the man said it is noted as a party school in some publications but that isn't all bad if you keep in under control.  Depending upon what you plan to study I'd give it some thought as there are some unique and respected programs at Arizona State.

If it is important to you ASU has had some fair golfers also, like Phil Mickelson, Billy Mayfair, Paul Casey, Howard Twitty, Heather Farr, Danielle Ammaccapane, Anna Norqvist, Grace Park, and Tom Purtzer to mention a few.

Good Luck.

Butch

I should have added that ASU has a Pete Dye designed  golf course (Karsten) that students play at a discount.

Congrats, I tried getting into ASU and didnt make it. My ACT scores were not high enough for an out of state applicant. either way good luck and congrats again on getting into those schools.

Congrats on the acceptances!! I am going to ASU right now and I love it. I was born and raised here in AZ though, so I am used to the hot summers. Where else can you where shorts and short sleeves on Christmas and Thanksgiving?? It is a fun school and your education is what you make of it. Good luck with wherever you decide to go! There is no shortage of golf here in Tempe year round and we could always use another Sun Devil

Congrats on getting accepted.  To echo other comments look at the strength of the program you are interested in - will pay off when it comes to job search down the road.  Don't worry about "party school" labels - if your program is strong that won't matter to recruiters.

However, I must add, indeed I feel compelled to add, that you should stay as FAR away from Clemson as you possibly can.  Run, don't walk away from them.  However, since I did my Masters at the University of South Carolina you MAY want to take my advice with a BIG grain of salt!

Congrats again!
