Winn Hero Camo Grips?

go figure....just saw the winn hero commercial on golf channel. LOL

I think i like the looks of golf pride ones better.

no idea which one feels better in the hands where it counts.

I think this post might get me in some trouble, but please do not misconstrue what I am trying to say. I prompt my post with the following:

1 - I am 100% grateful for the sacrifice that military people make.

2 - I have a number of friends that are in the military and I support them 100%.

3 - I support donations to foundations that assist the military personnel and their families.

However I absolutely hate when companies do these types of marketing campaigns.  When I see ones like the Winn grips and the Srixon camo boxes last year, it makes me slightly angry.  I get that they are trying to generate money for the foundations and charities...but please don't be fooled by these marketing ploys that are trying to generate revenues.  If Winn is actually concerned with assisting the Troops First Foundation why not give all the sales from the grips to the foundation and not just a "portion"?  I understand marketing (as I have a degree in it) however I don't agree with this type of marketing that makes it look like they are doing some worthy AND THEN to use a name for the grip like "Hero" as to pull a little more on the emotions of the buyers is just an exclamation point.  I think this is tasteless and classless...JAT.

Quinn, As a professional marketing executive myself I am in complete agreement with you. It is a huge peeve of mine. Especially when you read the fine print and they throw in a limiting disclaimer.

Couldn't have said it any better. I have real problems with marketing, not only in golf. When I first saw the commercial I rolled my eyes, just like I do whenever I see some washed up pro or teacher as a spokesman for "instant" golf fixes. If you were a real golfer, you would not doop your own kind into believing that sh*t. Working at a golf shop, I see so much junk people buy off the tv and such, it's sad. But when I saw this, my immediate reaction was one of anger, they are using the troops as a means of selling grips! As you said, if you really cared, all their PROFIT should go to special armed forces foundations, yet, these pigs make money off of poor troops and emotions of a buyer. They're 0 for 2 so far. Besides the fact I hate Winn grips, I will never buy one because of this. tasteless and classless to the core!
