Is that a mirror that you have on the mat there? If so, do you find it helpful and/or can you see a decent amount of your swing? If so, you have a link to the product?

Yeah. We have five of them at GE, and I have two at home for my own use.

$59.95 (or two for $89.85). As a pro, I can get them for a bit less. But not really enough to make it worth anyone's time to do that.

And… at $89.85, I think you get free shipping. Split it with a buddy and you each get one, or keep a backup.

You can see them here (the backs of them):

It's really neat to read about your approach to your own swing, especially after working with you on my own stuff.

I'm definitely going to pick one of those up.

Found a slight variation on the feel that I like. At the top, I have a bit more width, and then it feels like my right shoulder pushes that width down. The structure of the right arm/left arm combo and my shoulder (and the shaft) is "maintained" more, and the whole apparatus is pushed down the plane by the right shoulder.

just read the last few pages but, have you played with having a little more flying right elbow so your shoulder isn't already so externally rotated that you can't rotate it more on the downswing to shallow it?  When that right shoulder and elbow is so tight it's sorta hard not to tip it even dufner tips it some coming down

I have, and it's not been a terribly successful feeling. It often just goes even more internal from there, with some pretty lousy sweetspot path stuff. I don't get the depth needed, the club gets a bit across the line, etc.

There's a difference between the elbow staying down and letting it come up a little bit, versus being internal or external.

Played some golf today. Hit some pretty good shots, and was proud of the fact that I don't feel that I took a "too long" backswing once.

I did hit some left, which is a good sign that my "hinge" and a shorter backswing were working, as that will have the sweet spot "out" a little bit, particularly on a partial swing. I can feel the right palm facing outward a little bit more in that case.

Drivers were good. Wedges were good. Mid-irons were good. Hybrids, 3-woods… pretty happy with my game overall, particularly as the ground was sopping wet.

Ben Hogan did something in his setup that gave him tremendous stored up energy in the backswing. It’s something you can easily do when you swing the golf club too.And what I’m about to share with you is a solution to a very common problem that a lot of amateurs have in the backswing, which is this…

During the backswing a lot of amateurs get too much weight onto the outside of the right foot and slide their right knee to the right. What Hogan did to prevent this from happening in the backswing was to kick in his right knee slightly towards the target at setup. Here is a picture of this…ben-hogan-right-knee-kicked-in.jpg

Don't know why it took me so long to look at this, but I saw it on the "topics being discussed" area.

Dorsiflection is exactly what I do! My buddies have told me that my left wrist is cupped and my right wrist is straight at the top of the backswing. I've tried to change that but can't really tell how successful I've been. I'll have to have someone video me when we can actually get outside and hit some balls.

When I do try to get flexion in my right wrist it feel like the club is getting laid off behind me. Like I said, I need to look at it.

Cool… except the last time that word (spelled properly like "dorsiflexion") was used in this topic was 2011.

Hey @iacas, just wondering, do you ever flip once in a while? Just wondering if it's something that still happens to an accomplished player.

No, not really. Sometimes probably when I'm trying to really launch a high one over some trees, but usually that's from the rough so a little flip is "okay" there.

That's not to say I don't hit a shot fat or thin. I still hit those now and then, of course.

I kinda figured you'd say that, flipping seems like it would never pop up in your swing...thanks!

    • As a Srixon staffer, I mainly use the z star xv. However, the -prov1x is a really good ball for my game. If I find other balls, I give them away to friends.
    • Day 12, working on short game. Trying to be less wrist hinge-y. It’s a bit better. Putting is a mess.
    • I can see both sides of this.  Are there enough Seniors (and enough prize money) that you could do a CTP for them, and a separate one for the younger guys?
    • Day 93: Played a quick 9 before heading off on vacation for a few days. Heavy fog, so just made easy swings trying to keep the ball "findable". Ended up shooting 3 over for 9, so nice way to start my vacation.
    • I'm probably an outlier, but I have so many brand new balls in boxes from a variety of companies, there's no way I could be devoted to one brand. Presents, free sleeve samples handed out at big box stores, boxes of balls won at various company golf outings, etc. Plus, I'm not adverse to reusing found balls as long as they're in decent condition. Also, when my swing goes haywire, as it has recently, I hate staring down at a brand now Pro V1. All I see at that moment is a five-dollar bill with the real potential to go sailing off into the woods so that's usually when the found balls get put on the tee.
