I shoot around 100. A buddy of mine shoots about 75. He said he could beat me playing 18 holes with only one arm. Assuming he hasn't played this way ever, especially 18, he will most likely have about 3 months to practice. Who do you take bets on?

Sounds like an interesting challenge. How sure are you of your ability?

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

If I practice for 3 months, I can get down to 90. I have done it before when I played about 50 rounds in one year. Just thinking about balance, etc should worsen his game by 1 stroke per hole, at least.

What is on the line? Your buddy has to be pretty good and practicing 1hand for 3 months could mess hi. m up, there would have to be great payoff in order for him to risk messing up his swing. Having said that, I been practice one handed allot to help my swing....

Still I pick you

5 dimes. I gave him a chance to get out of the bet, but he chose to continue to run his mouth. Now, he will need to practice a ton, ruin his game a bit. Also, he's coming off of acl/mcl surgery in December.

I assume you guys will be playing by the rules (ie, no mulligans), so his chances of losing 3 or 4 strokes just due to penalties from failing to carry water hazards or hitting OB are fairly strong. Even if he's a 75, with just one arm I'm guessing he'll shank it OB, block it OB, or something like that, at least once. Never mind any hard forced carries. So if you meet lower-midway and shoot a 93, he then has about 15 strokes of actual buffer between his score and yours, minus the extra penalties he'll probably incur. So then the question is: Minus penalties, can he play basically a bit under bogey golf? Driving distance will be dramatically reduced, so he'll probably be lucky to reach par-5s in 3, and long par-4s are probably not going to be hit in 2. So sheer lack of distance probably takes maybe 4 or 5 strokes. So he has little room for error with his shorter hitting distances. That said, I do believe that he can avoid losing strokes on the putting green. Maybe he won't, but that's probably the one area he stands a chance of performing up, or within just one or two strokes of, his normal game. The problem will lie in getting onto the green. I'd pick you. If he were playing off one leg I'd pick him, but I have a hard time believing that he'll lose just about one stroke per hole with one arm.
