So my swing is in shambles at the moment, and aside from everything else I'm doing wrong, I know I lift the club almost immediately rather than starting the back swing by turning shoulders.

Any tips to get this concrete?

My last 3 of 4 range sessions have been riddled with shanks ( I hate that word ).....and I hope that this will give me a better plane on the way down

If you look at my swing, the butt of the club never goes past my thigh, it almost immediately points towards my crotch, as in, I am cocking my wrists on the get go:

Thanks!

Right from your set-up, it looks like your hips, shoulders, and feet are not aligned towards the same place, idk if that's intentional or not. Secondly, your arms aren't just straight down, they are if anything, leaning left which very odd.  That could be the beginning to the shanking.

The swing looks ok, cept it seems too crunched into a small space. I feel like your standing too close to the ball and you cant fully release the club.  Try standing back an inch or so and see what happens.

Not bad, i would say you stand to close to the ball, and your set up on your toes at address. I would say, get your balance at 50/50 between your toes and your heel, tuck your hips up a bit more. This might give you a bit more room to move and let you stay down on the ball.

The camera angle on the Tiger photo frame is well left of DTL. This video is a little better, although the quality isn't great and the angle is a bit high.

your backswing isnt that bad from what I can see. At address you could bring your arms out a little bit with the club, instead of so much straight down or slightly in. Middle of hands should be about front of toes, I like this because when you come into your downswing your not going to bring in your hands that close to your body. Another thing about the backswing with Tiger, Foley teaches to have the butt of the club pointing inbetween the ball and feet but I think it should be pointing at the ball. The thing thats funny about it is Foley says Hunter is the model of what he teaches but Hunter points the butt of the club at the ball, all of Foleys other players do what he teaches(inbetween ball and feet) which is off plane, they just adjust on the downswing into the ball

Doesn't really matter much, many great players have loops in there swing, and play extremely well. One plane, two plane, something just wierd, doesn't matter, all that matters is getting that ball in the hole in the least amount of strokes as possible.

Aside from that, to me as long as the club is traveling inebtween the shoulder and the forearm in the downswing, and comes into the ball from the inside, your good, just make sure you hit the ball first.

Thanks guys.

I don't think I'm going to worry about this too much. I will work on my hands and how close I stand to the ball.

Fixed my shank issues tonight with a little drill. Ball between two tees, and I worked on not hitting the tees, just the ball, took the tees away after around 30 swings, was hitting it pretty nice the rest of the session. I love these Ci9s

Thanks again
