Joking aside, until you have tried to make a 3-4 footer when it counts, you won't know how difficult they are.  I am continually amazed at how good the guys on tour are at sinking these "easy" putts.

Please...let's not overreact. My original comment was meant to have humor in it anyway, but I guess none of you picked up on that. All I was doing was saying that those short putts he missed, he should have made. They may not be easy for everyone, but they're easy from him. Pressure doesn't bother him. If he misses a putt, it's his fault. He's learned to block out the distractions around him.

And practicing putting makes perfect. Anyone will become a better putter if they practice and practice.

I wish Tiger would just go back to Harmon.   When he was with Butch he was winning majors by 10 shots.   Enough of this Haney & Foley nonsense.

Oh ... kay.

Maybe the greens at Augusta are a bit different than the carpet in your home?

More break than in the ones he missed in the final round of Augusta. I'm just saying, those were putts he should have drained easily--he used to be the best putter on Tour.

So you don't think he will or for sure he won't???? Kinda confusing statement....

Well, it looks more and more like my initial statement may come true...

I didn't see any real info in there. Notah Begay pretty much says Tiger's camp hasn't said anything. The headline will get a ton of hits tho!

They should just give him robot legs that are fully functional and capable of moving just like human legs. Then he'd be good for life and could just worry about his game. LOL.

Knee is definitely a HUGE part of the problem. Thing can only take so many surgeries and still try and hold up with all the torque he puts/used to put on it (thanks Butch). My uncle is going through the exact same problem right now and he has been telling me that it is so hard to make a confident swing bc when you go to make the turn you are so scared that your knee is just gonna POP and its gonna hurt like hell. I really hope he just takes the rest of the year off and lets it heal to the best of its ability. I think I can speak for a lot of people when saying that it would be EPIC to see him and rory dueling eachother for majors during the next 10 years (if the knee can hold up that long).

Tiger has sprained his anterior cruciate ligament , which keeps the knee intact right in the middle. If that is injured, even only a mild sprain which Tiger has, it is going to be a major problem. You won't only feel pain when you turn in your swing, you'll feel pain when walking and even moving your knee. I have it highlighted in yellow here:

KNEE INJURIES--Anterior Ligament.jpg

Unfortunately, maybe taking the rest of the year off wouldn't be a bad idea. Being the big Tiger fan I am, I want to see him out on the course ASAP, but I would rather have him be 100% healed. If he's 100% healed in time for the PGA Championship, then I say he should play. When he's 100%, he's 100%...sitting around at home for a few more weeks or months isn't going to make him 120%. So whenever he's fully healed, he should come back, and we don't know exactly when that will be.

yea he really needs to find a swing where he doesnt snap that knee. Hes still snapping it with foley, Foleys going to have to be creative to find a way around it if Tigers going to stick with him.

He is? I thought he said he hasn't done it for a few years now.

    • There are three leagues at my home course.  One of them is seniors-only, for which I don't qualify (I checked).  However, one of the things they do for their tournaments is to have default tees for each flight.  Any player may play any set of tees desired;  handicap shots get adjusted for the different tees, and players are ineligible for gross prizes if they aren't at the default tees.  I don't know what they do if someone asks to move back a set of tees, but that isn't a concern in this thread. This allows, say, B flight to play from the blue tees, but the players who cannot really enjoy a round from those tees can move to the white tees, enjoy their round, and still compete in net.
    • Wiltwyck in Kingston is good, maybe not far enough north for your plans though.  I think they just hosted a US Sr Am (or something like that, don't recall exactly).
    • Discuss “The Anatomy of a Golf Course” by Tom Doak here. Also discuss any other Tom Doak books here.
    • One of the issues we have in our league is that when players move up a teebox, they are more likely to win some of the various awards we give out: # birdies and pars, low gross, closest to pin, etc. Haven't figured out exactly how to best handle that.
    • We stay in the Santa Rosa Beach / Blue Mountain Beach area just about every year (save the occasional switch to Hilton Head Island...which we did again this year).  Windswept in Freeport is one of my go-to visits.  Spectacular is probably a little strong, but I do like the place.  The value is especially good since you're inland, non-resort.  I like the layout--less water-everywhere-target-golf, and more, well, 'windswept dunes'--and it's pretty open so you can be aggressive off the tee when you're playing well.  The only negatives are the drive from the beach, relative to the other area courses--and, being inland, you lose the sea breeze...so feels much hotter and the flying insects can get a little bothersome.  Take your sun screen and bug spray. Beyond Windswept, I've probably played the Sandestin resort courses the next-most...including the Links probably most often (I can be frugal  ).  It is a little tight and watery, but still a nice layout.  In spite of that, I've put up some of my better scores there, including a hole-out from ~102y a couple of years ago on one of the prettier holes on the bay.  That was a nice memory.   You guys enjoy your trips & rounds.  May the birdies be plentiful.
