Playing alone?

There's nothing wrong with playing alone, but if you are playing behind traffic as a single....what do you do?,,,hit 4 balls from every spot to kill the time?    The waiting on every shot would be torture.....

Just my 2 cents...I often play as a single which is why I find this thread interesting, but I usually join a group if there is nowhere to go once out on a course....IE....I end up behind a 2/3some....I'll join them.  If the course is empty enough......I'll skip around and pass slower groups........  I just couldn't imagine playing as a single and waiting for them.

I love playing alone. Playing with people is nice and all, but to me going out there on my own (especially when there are few people on the course at all) is especially therapeutic and relaxing. Also, it gives me some time to throw a couple extra balls down from hard spots, practice and think.

I play alone all the time, I actually prefer it. You don't have to wait for everyone else and you can just focus on your own shots. The course I belong to is free to just walk, so I usually go around 430-5 and just walk 9 holes. It takes about 2-2.5 hours but it's perfect.

Most of the time I will be invited to play through.

Same here.  More than 90% of the time I go as a single because most of my friends either don't play golf or can't get up early on the weekend to play.  When I was in Pennsylvania, I used to play alone because there weren't that many golfers on the course, so I didn't mind playing alone.  In Denver area, I always get paired up.  I met some great people--most of the time--and I always enjoy playing with new people, unless of course they are SLOOOOW!  That only happened once or twice in the last few years.  Generally, early morning people tend to play faster.

No problem with it.  I used to do that regularly because i'm not gonna sit home because nobody i golf with can play that day.  2 weeks ago i played by myself on a crowded course where i had foursomes ahead and behind me.  I just teed up four balls on each hole and kept good pace and really got to practice.  I've also ended up finding other people to play with by meeting them when I play by myself.
