Well they now have a website again

www.nickentgolf.com

They only have hybrids, irons and putters. Be interesting to see if they bring out some drivers.

I'm thinking about picking up a 4DX ( only $49.99 ) of rockbottom.

The 4dx is a solid driver and they were offered with some decent shaft choices (UST V2's, etc.).  I did the same thing back in May, bought it from Rockbottom for $69 (I got the one with the swappable shaft hossel) not the CYG hossel.  When I hit it flush it goes nicely, but I opted for a senior flex shaft which leads to more dispersion than I would like.

Last week I bought the Callaway FT-IQ that rockbottom is currently selling.  After 1 range session today the 4dx is out of the bag.

Not knocking the 4dx, the FT-IQ just works better for my swing.

I already own the original 4dx but for $49, I bought a 9* Evolver with a Pershing shaft from RBG. Took it to the range today and was very pleased with the way it performed. Only had time to play a couple of holes, but I was banging it out there past my old one. I guess the shaft is more suited for me over the Aldila NV in my older model.

Will put in play tomorrow against my buddies.

What is loft of original 4DX and is it an Evolver?

The original is not an Evolver(glued in shaft) and is a 9* as is my new Evolver.

  • 2 months later...

I find the 4DX to be a consistent driver. Not the longest for me, but it's surprisingly forgiving (surprising since it looks so traditional). I replaced a stock SR3 shaft with a 77g Proforce V2 and that did the trick for me. I think with a smoother shaft I would get more distance though.

    • Just played Freshwater Golf Club on the Isle of Wight today whilst on holiday. Never played this course before and also forgot my Garmin watch (grrr). Point is only had 8 clubs and putter, D 3h 4 6 7 8 9 SW P. To be honest it was plenty of equipment 14 is too many. Played to handicap.
    • Shot 82 yesterday, 14 GIR/nGIR, 29 putts, zero penalty strokes. Ball striking was pretty good. No exceptional shots, but all my misses were manageable, except one approach that I toed so bad I almost missed the ball completely. Driver contact was higher on the face the usual, which resulted in some higher and shorter drives.  After putting in some practice time on chipping and pitching last week, there was a noticeable improvement in my short game. I had 5 GIR, and each birdie putt was in a makeable range, but none dropped, but made up for it with some 1-putt pars, including a sand save.
    • I'm in Southeast Florida.  The course I typically play has reduced rates for the off season between the end of April until the end of August.  Sometimes rates further reduce in the afternoon.  Afternoons during the summer would be the time you can likely find the lowest rates.  People avoid those times due to the heat.  Rates are highest between fall and spring.  Peak is typically Thanksgiving to Easter when seasonal resident (snowbird) play is at its highest.
    • Yup. I have started to play better recently and the soft cap was removed. I am now closer to my low index than I am to the high index that triggered the soft cap. Frankly, I have no problem when my cap is going downward. It means I am playing and scoring better. I usually play for some money and I notice I win more when my index is close to the low index. I was getting hammered as my cap went up. The extra strokes meant nothing.
