I don't think they're over paid. Sure a few caddies who are lucky enough to carry the bag for big name players make a lot, but what about the guy who is carrying the bag of the guy who's struggling to make cuts?

Just because there's a few making a ton doesn't mean they are all overpaid.

I just don't think there are only a select few in the world who could be a good caddie.  The skills needed are not that hard to come by which should be reflected in what they earn.  I don't know what a caddie should earn--but if I was to guess I'd say all expenses paid and 40,000 a year.  The idea of 10% of a players winnings just sounds crazy to me.

I don't think you've ever caddied in a top-tier event or for a top-tier player.

I don't care if he or Tiger got separated or not.  I am just happy not to see both unlikable guys on TV screen at same time.

Only worry is that Stevie may wear Burbury like A. Scott does.  :)

It was a good article and expanded further on what I'd already read.  It will be interesting to see who replaces Williams as it's a great opportunity for someone, but comes with a lot of risk.

The article reminds me of when Fluff Cowan was let go. Tiger like most players want their caddies to do their job and remain out of sight. They get paid very well for doing just this. Fluff became too much of a celebrity and was canned and it looks like Williams forgot what his job was: to be Tiger's caddy and not draw attention to himself. I don't think Steve said anything wrong except his idiotic statement about Mickelson.

Maybe this will signal a change to Tiger's personality.  I may be in the minority, but I don't recall Tiger being as curt pre-Stevie, but I may be wrong.

If one thought Stevie was gonna take the high road....think again:

If Tiger knocked the bridge down, Stevie just went out and burned the remains, then spat on it for good measure.

Quoted from the article Kieran123 posted...

"After last year's US Open, Woods told NBC: "I was telling Stevie we made three mental mistakes today and the only thing it cost us was the chance to win the US Open."

Do you think you're capable of handling this kind of pressure?  Caddies on the PGA Tour aren't just out there going through the motions.  They are providing their employer with critical information to win.  The stakes are VERY high and it isn't as trivial as you have made it seem.  On top of that, Tiger's profile as a golfer during his run from 1999+ till now is beyond what you can imagine and to caddie in that environment isn't some simple. Sure the money helps which is why I may not fully agree with Stevie's comments but I surely respect him (and others on the PGA Tour) as a caddie.

Here's another opinion article

http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/6790119/rick-reilly-tiger-woods-new-world

Although most of the article is ugh...there are some interesting points:

1. Stevie not making a pay cheque in the last 2 years while Tiger rebuilds everything

2. And that Tiger was pissed that Stevie went and caddied for Adam Scott ( I thought he got permission? )

Typical Rick Reilly fashion,  Spewing about things he probably has no idea or clues about.

My point was there is a lot of good caddies that people don't know about and tiger may take one of them. I'm not saying pull some guy off a nationwide bag and give him a try out. I just don't think Tiger has as many options as most believe and will have to pay a ton to draw a big name away from a good player.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
