Tiger Woods announced Wednesday that he and caddie Steve Williams will not be working together in the future."I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it's time for a change," Woods said. "Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future." Presently, a replacement has not been named. Woods continues to rest and rehabilitate his left leg. No decision has been made when he will return to competition on the PGA Tour.[/font]

yea I didnt believe them either. I guess Tiger didnt like it that Stevie went to adam scotts bag afterall.

I third the previous non belief. He probably won't have much of a problem finding a replacement though.

Weird. I wonder what brought it on? And will Stevie work full time with Scott now?

Whether it's for the better, who knows.

New coach, new caddie, new management ( sort of ).....what's next.?....new club sponsor?

Great news for Adam Scott!  I won't be surprised if he finally wins a major in the next year or two if Stevie stays on his bag.  As for Tiger, this isn't a huge surprise.  He might as well start fresh with everything and go from there.  I can't really think of any caddies who will be a great fit for him, but I'm sure he won't have a problem finding one like jamo mentioned above.  Stevie seemed to be perfect for Tiger's mentality, so it will be interesting to see how he meshes with his new caddy.

Not necessarily. I know what Tiger's doing. He's changing things up--like he has always done. His swing, his caddy, etc. Doesn't necessarily mean that their relationship was stale.

As for Tiger being pissed that Stevie had been caddying for Scott...I can't believe that because Scott even CALLED Tiger and asked him for permission before hiring Stevie. If Tiger approved, then obviously he was okay with Stevie going to Scott.

But I was honestly shocked by this. I didn't believe those rumors at all. Stevie is no doubt the best caddy on the Tour right now, and possibly one of the best of all-time. But Tiger is still a good player, and he can still win with someone else.

The only thing that surprised me is that he stuck around as long as he did.

Really? I wasn't surprised at all. I actually would have been shocked if Stevie would have left right after the scandal. They were great friends and Stevie was supporting him and helping him and there was no way he would leave him.

Stevie would have loved to be on Tiger's bag for that 19th major win...if it ever happens.

"Following the completion of the AT&T; National I am no longer caddying for Tiger after he informed me that he needed to make a change. After 13 years of loyal service needless to say this came as a shock. Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger's scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing change and Tiger battling through injuries I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time. I have had the opportunity to work of late for Australian Adam Scott and will now caddy for him on a permanent basis. Having started my caddying career with Australian great Peter Thompson and working for Greg Norman in the 80's I am excited about the future working for another Australian."

If Tiger can get Fanny Sunesson off Stenson somehow it would be the greatest decision Tiger ever made. She's the best caddy out there in my mind. She also is a mind coach and I think most of Tiger's problems at the moment are mental.

So hardly a mutual thing then. Stevie making clear he was kicked to the curb.

Maybe Stevie wouldn't drink his koolaid?!?

I disagree. At that level, a caddy isn't "good" or "bad," they're just better or worse for that particular player.

I am surprised by this and it surely looks like Tiger is in cleansing mode....

At least Stevie has a good job with Adam Scott.  Stevie has been loyal to Tiger in many ways and I hope that Adam is successful with him on the bag.

As for Tiger, a change of scenery in various aspects in his life (including his caddie) could prove as a good thing for him.

The story continues.....

Well, that's your opinion. It's pretty obvious that some caddies are better than others. Some take better notes, give better suggestions, etc., and Stevie is one of the better ones.

Tiger Woods will be returning at the PGA Championship and Elin will be carrying his bag.
