In the second week in October he did that, but it was only on the Monday and Tuesday.

Like you , I noticed a slight cooling of their relationship round about December, but It was hard to see EXACTLY what was going on, expecially on the 17th, a FRiday, I think.

Even though I don't know for sure, it is my opinion that Fanny would be a good fit for Tiger, and although you say that you don't know if he's intetested, you can probbaly work out that Stevie's relationship with the other caddies has never been that great - not after 1991, anyway.

As for his relationship with Foley, you didn't notice tat sidewards glance at the Players' this year? Wow - I thought you were on top of things.

It is my opinion that Stevie is the best caddie of ALL TIME. Britney Spears is the best singer of ALL TIME, too. A much better singer than Mozart was, for sure.

Definition of "all time" - since I started following golf. That's right isn't it?

Now, seriously......

Rather than trying to come across as a 19th century schoolmarm, rousing on people and saying things like "shame on you" and "you are ridiculous" and passing of stuff you read as "your opinion", you need to start thinking for yourself. That little tag line of yours has an air of the "passive aggressive" about it. You get upset when someone disagrees with you and you plead for civility and "politeness". The objections don't come from  disagreement with your opinions, because they aren't opinions. You are just parroting the views of others.

As for you claims of "best ever", "all time" "no doubt", I really think you need to curb that. Hence the Britney Speers analogy earlier on. Obviously I am being facetious.

You can not have the opinion that Williams is the best caddy of all time.

If you want to read a fantastic (golf) book, read "Caddy for Life: the Bruce Edwards Story" by John Feinstein. I promise it will change your perspective on caddies, golf and life itself.

For a young man you are exceptionally articulate and obviously have a great passion for the game, but try discussing things in less absolute terms.

You know nothing about Woods' relationship with Williams and neither do I.

I was surprised that Tiger dumped him, and I perceive that Williams is hurt. End of story for me.

But I am not going to speculate about their relationship based on rumours on internet forums and what I imagine I may have seen in video footage on the practice tee.

Zeph's comment a few posts up is correct.

As for the "hostility", it's because of the timing of the move. Of course Tiger's going to release a nice statement, but in all reality, it wasn't a very pleasant goodbye. Tiger was upset, called Stevie "disloyal", and fired him. Williams was shocked at the timing of it, considering how much of a friend he's been to Tiger the past 2 years (if they really were even that close). So obviously Tiger was upset at Stevie for being disloyal, and Stevie is upset at Tiger because of the timing of the firing. Tiger didn't just fire him because he thought he "needed a change". Stevie is an elite caddy, and there is likely no one who could help Tiger any more than he could.

I'm not surprised a lot of fans on Tiger's website are backing Tiger and saying it was good that he fired Stevie for being disloyal. But in my mind (and I've been a huge Tiger fan for many years), I don't like what Tiger did, especially the timing of it. If I was Stevie, I would have been upset too.

Do you know the facts?  And who is your source?  Not saying you are wrong I just want to see where you are reading all this from, According to the horses mouth (Tiger) they split on friendly terms.  Along with the rest of the scandal we may never know the truth.

guys it doesnt feel good to get fired, that's why Stevie is saying some of the stuff he is publicly. Stevie does have a point and its probably true what hes saying but hes hurt by Tiger right now.

Tony Navarro says he'd take a call from Tiger. But the article says that Tiger hasn't contacted him yet and therefore he's out of the running.

I wouldn't say he's out of the running yet. Tiger still has time before he returns, but then again, we have no idea what Tiger's up to. He could have already found his new caddy and is just waiting for a certain date to tell us.

All the articles that have been written about it. And certainly looking at Stevie's comments, he was not happy.

I'm not saying they're furious at each other, but it definitely wasn't too happy of an ending.

I am sure Stevie isnt feeling to good about this ordeal. Never fun getting the ax from the boss. I am sure Stevie will feel better the more tongue lashings

he gives Tiger during his next few weeks of interviews and questions.

And from what I've read, it seems like Tiger fired him specifically because he caddied for Scott a 2nd time at the AT&T; National without asking Tiger for permission again, and that made Tiger mad. If Stevie would have never went to Scott's bag, or even if he would have asked Tiger for permission again, he would probably still be Tiger's caddy. But that's just my opinion. And I'm not blaming anything on Stevie...if I was Tiger, I would have had no problem with Stevie caddying for someone else until I return. Steve was loyal to Tiger, and that's why he's upset.

This thread doesn't require 8 pages of discussion. A player is changing caddy.....it's a fairly common occurrence on tour. There's not enough info to take anything more out of it.

You're exactly right. That's why I'm only going off of Stevie's comments. I never said I totally believed everything I read, all I said is what they said "happened". But how they know everything is beyond me. Just like those Globe and Enquire magazines...lots of false articles.

I certainly didn't think this would take up 8 full pages, but at the same time I'm not surprised. Tiger and Stevie is a hot topic and there are a lot of people on this forum who like to discuss it. But I think everything's been covered now.

Just have to wait and see who the next caddy is...

It wouldn't even be a topic. I wouldn't have started one anyway. I was actually considering making a thread about Rory dumping his girlfriend of 7 years for Caroline Wozniacki a few days before the Open and ask for opinions on this but I decided nobody would give a sh*t.

While I agree with the majority of your post, I take exception to the bolded below.

It is his opinion, why is he not entitled to it?

Shorty is saying that he's not really in a position to have an opinion on the subject. How would he know who the best caddie is? The best caddie might be the guy working for the #143rd ranked player in the world for all we know. Or a retired guy. Or some guy who never caddied on the PGA Tour.

There is no doubt that I am the best caddy going.....the only problem I have is that my player sucks

    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
