HI Everyone who knows Scottsdale well:) I am planning to surprise my boyfriend with a golf school/academy gift for our time in Scottsdale from Dec 27 to January 2nd. We have just bought a condo down there so he would be a commuter and not need hotel accommodation. Can you recommend any good programs you have been on that are within say 25 mins drive of Shea and Hayden? He is a 7 handicap. Also, if you are lookingn to golf with a nice Canadian, please let me know your details as he doesn't have many golfing friends as of yet:)

Also,,if by chance you know of a tennis camp for 2 to 5 days send that my way too? That would be for me as I'm definitely NOT a 7 handicap:) thank you! Karin

You must be the best girlfriend ever.

You'll find lots of people who like Martin Chuck's Tour Striker and he seems like a good instructor. He has posted some videos of drills and lessons here and on YouTube. He has moved his school to Phoenix. http://www.azgolfernews.com/article.php?arid=684

My guys teach out of Florida in the winter.

Thank you! will check it out!! I am aiming to be the best girlfriend ever:) lol!

Actually I just looked and it seems like there are just hourly rates or a package of hours (for example 10 hours), I am looking for something that is more like a camp in that it's say 4 hours of varied instruction in the morning, lunch and then maybe another hour of coaching in afternoon and then a round of golf or 9 holes. Does Martin offer this?

I found at Talking Stick Resort: Chad Rogers..how does this sound to you?

Three Day School

The 3 Day school is the most popular school.  Perfect for the golfer who’s looking for a comprehensive analysis of all aspects of the game, or the beginner looking for a comprehensive introduction to the game of golf.  This school will be kept to a (4:1 student: instructor ratio), which allows Chad to customize the instruction and focus on each individual’s particular needs.

5 hours of professional instruction from 8:00-1:00 each day, followed by complimentary lunch.
Golf -green fee, cart, golf goody bag and unlimited FREE GOLF after lunch.  Includes full swing and short game analysis, game improvement plan, video analysis and on course instruction.
Cost: $795/per person

That does sound good.  The one thing that isn't written here is that Martin is a big contributor on another golf site and recently he had a whole thread about suggestions for pricing on a 2 or 3 day golf school.  The thread went on for a while, not even sure where it ended up because I stopped looking.  The above does sound good.  I lived in Tucson for the last 3 years and I know for a fact that there are TONS of choices in Phoenix and Scottsdale.  It is hard to suggest one without really knowing what kind of swing your bf is working towards, or if it is short game that he is most interested, in or a myriad of other variables.  I don't really know Martin, but I have contacted him personally about non Golf stuff in his former hometown of Bend Or, and he is VERY approachable and open minded.  His training aids are universal and his swing theory is based in TGM and is  pretty applicable to all.  That deal does sound good from Chad, I hadn't heard of him but I do like the golf course from what I remember?  Whichever way you go, you have already won girlfriend of the year award and I have forwarded this thread over to my wife!

    • Day 312 - Better finishing position, fuller backswing, PRGR to see how swing speed was.
    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
