Happy to take a look. Can I get the Reader's Digest version?

As in…

  • FO and DL video of your current swing.
  • What shots you're hitting that you like or don't like.
  • What you're currently working on with your instructor?

Just those.

haha thanks man. I was trying to split the post up but it ended up combining every time I replied. Wanted a big massive post to compile everything.

Sadly these videos were some benchmarks for me re-enetering this journey, so they contain 3 swings in each upload.

8i DTL

8i FO

  • The shots I seem to hit the most are fades or push fades, with the occasional left miss trying to fix the fade. My issue with a fade, is that I am so used to hitting a draw, and feel like I can control the draw (how much it draws) more. I'm not sure if its the fade I don't like, or the fact that mentally I am not adjusting to playing a fade.
  • I am no longer doing lessons for the reasons I posted (instructor moved facilities)
    • My self diagnosed fixes are: strengthen my grip to help the fade, close the club face a bit if needed on the longer irons

Keeping it short, but if I end up venturing down evolvr, I got a lot ot unload on you haha - feel like only making it through half the planemate modules hurt me in the long run

Thanks man

The more I look it, the more I realize how inside my takeaway is.  Started doing some digging and captured this tidbit from Day 1 of the COVID videos. Going to work on this feel tonight of my right palm facing down.

Couldn't hurt.

I have your stuff open in a browser tab and will get to it here when I have a minute. My goal is to do so tonight.

I've looked at the videos a few times now. I'd work on:

  • Strengthening that left hand grip. The right hand is fine.
  • Because it's weak, you palmar flex and roll to take it away. I'd work on learning how to hinge the club up properly in front of you.
  • Keep the width on the backswing (do some of the COVID practice drills that encourage wide right elbows, high hands).
  • Thumbs Up 1

Thanks for these - Crazy thing is I feel like I have been strengthening my grip since about a month ago. Will keep working on it to get the feel a bit more comfortable.

Just make sure you keep it out of the palm. Don't grip the club while it's on the ground.

One thing I noticed during my setup over the past couple of months, was my right shoulder always felt higher/closer to the ball - stumbled upon this old video of yours, and was pretty eye opening. Despite thinking my grip was stronger, having this shoulder metric is a nice additional checkpoint.

other than some gripping practice at home, I did not have a chance to hit the range for some more focused practice on hinging and takeaway.

Played two rounds this weekend, delivering my best round of the season so far (84) and then a 91 today at two different courses I have not played before. My biggest weaknesses are coming from penalties off the tee.

I'm still leaking balls to the right, however, this was the first time this weekend where I was playing for the fade rather always trying to play for a draw - that alone really improved both my FIR and GIR on Saturday but not as much today.

Have one swing from today on a Par 3 - 5i. I was playing the fade here and aimed a bit left center (flag was on the right), but pushed it a bit.  Pretty clearly still a bit over the top, going to continue to peruse the video archives in this  thread to find some ways to improve that.

I haven't seen a good set of videos of your swing.

Of course you could benefit from Evolvr, but at the same time… I'm just answering that generally, because I don't have much specific here to go on, as far as I know.

Hmm I felt I posted some pretty good videos. Is there something I should do differently that is not in these videos below?

I'll grab some new swing videos sometime this week at the range with a stronger grip as well!

    • We do not buy extended warranties. We will use one of our credit cards for the purchase that extends the warranty "x 2". Our thoughts are: a. if the item is a lemon, it will likely break right away and we can attempt to apply the original warranty or credit card extension. b. over the long haul, we will probably save more money by not purchasing the extended warranty and fixing/junking broken items out of our own pocket. The important thing is to keep some records of purchases so one may make a claim under the manufacturer's warranty. I recently sent back some Footjoy shoes for leaking and Footjoy did a reat job of making the claim process work very well. I had the original receipt, warrant info and box. Easy peasy.
