If he doesn't get back out and start playing on a weekly basis I don't think he will ever be much of a factor anymore. He is not number one in the world anymore and needs to get back out and play tourney golf.Going home and hitting balls isn't the answer.

I say 2 wins this year, with one major. I'm thinking the Masters if his putter is working.

In my Sun Mountain 14 Way Stand Bag:

Driver - Ping G30 10.5* : Fairway - Ping G30 18* : Hybrids - Titleist 915H 21* & 915 H 24* : Irons - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged 5 - GW : Wedges, Vokey 54.14, Vokey 58.12 : Putter - Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 or Ping Craz-E-R  : Ball - Bridgestone B330RX, Cart - Cliqgear 3.5

But that is deceptive because they never set the course up for a tourney round with all of the back tees.  Torrey Pines never played at its maximum length in the 2008 Open and I doubt that thy ever set up Hazeltine up for its max in 2009.

What do you mean get back out?  He has never played a week by week schedule.  He seems to be planning on playing with the same frequency he did when he was decimating the tour.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Sure, but they are still the longest courses. They don't play the shorter courses at their maximum possible length every day, either.

Your right,he is playing with the same frequency he did when he was decimating the tour, but guess what,he's not decimating the tour anymore! He needs to play on a weekly basis and get his putting stroke back under pressure, going home and putting on a practice green isn't the same.Tiger needs to get back to basics, and that means playing a lot more golf.

You realize he's playing the next three weeks right?

No,but that is a good thing.I want to see him get his game back and have been frustrated with the fact that he is not out playing.I know he has had health issues, but that seems to be over and it's time for him to get back out on a regular basis.

When did Tiger ever decimate the tour?

I am going to say he wins at least 1 major if not two, I think he might win the masters and have a good showing in the other 3. I think he may have 3 other tour wins this year, i still think he beats Jack's record!

Tiger did just the opposite of decimate the tour.    In Tiger's prime, the Tour increased purses dramatically, increased attendance, increased TV ratings, and stimulated an increase in more physically fit and capable athletes.    This is the exact opposite of decimating.       Dominating, maybe, but certainly not decimating.......

I think I'd know if Tiger reduced the field by 10%.

    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
