Ive said it before and Im going to say it again: Tiger is done.  If his left knee is already so bad that he has to withdraw, he is never going to return to form.

Have a look a couple of posts above yours.

Some of the more charitable members have shown their true colours.

"Bye"

"leg injury" (his inverted commas, implying that it's BS)

"Tiger took his ball and went home"

Great stuff.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I wonder if the blimp will follow Tiger home. Get back to the golf already!

Jeez. They're doing an OJ Simpson White Bronco chase thru the Miami streets.

My remarks simply indicated that he was a non-factor in the tournament.  Truth be told though, I don't like Tiger and never have.  I got the chance to follow his group a few years ago, and his on-course antics are inexcusable.  What you see on TV is nothing.  Throwing clubs, spitting, and dropping F-Bombs every 2 minutes.  He's not someone I would want my children to see as a role model on the course.

Rory is again putting together a great round. Four birdies one eagle through 12. :-D

No you don't, but if it's serious you probably don't drive. If you tweak something that's a different story.

Yeah the following the car stuff is pretty bad. Hope it's a temporary foot injury or something. Would love to see him in last weeks form at the masters.

But i think we can also agree that Golf can def do without Tiger. Their are a whole bunch of great golfers hitting the scene and they are here to stay (Rory, Kaymer and Bradley especially).

Look at who great this tourney is.

I think Bubba just sealed his fate with that dunk...too bad as excited as I am to see Rory make a CHARGE I wanted to see him recover and be in contention to the end.

Assuming he can afford a car with an automatic transmission, it indicates it's the left knee again. Total bummer.

I don't think you can tell the type of injury from the transmission of the courtesy car...my comment was more about the seriousness. If you are really in pain, you probably let someone else drive. If its not that serious then get in and go. Even a little tweak needs to be taken seriously because one little tear means another year off. No one wants to see that.

    • At a basic level, you can take those strokes gained numbers and if you know what the baseline strokes to hole out is from each distance, you can figure out how many strokes on average you will take to hole out from any given spot on the golf course. Then you can take that shot zone thing from shotscope and put it down there and see what the average is for each club and each target you choose. That's not exactly trivial to do though even with a computer, so the strategy guides (like LSW) use rules of thumb to make those decisions easier for you to make on the fly. Most of the time you'll come up with the optimal strategy and on the odd occasion when you don't, the strategy you come up with will be pretty darn close to optimal. If you're anything like me, then you'll probably wind up being a little too conservative with both club choice and target. Fear of penalty strokes can make you play suboptimally. Basically it's a bad idea to base your strategy on a shot that might pop up less than 1 in 20 times. If you happen to hit that shot, then today just isn't your day, but the 19 times you don't, you'll be in that much better of a spot.
    • That sounds like a small sample size issue. What if the PGA tour event he was trying to get into just happened to fit his game perfectly? Also, he could just be playing hot right now. I’ll put this in the wait-and-see category.
    • I've used a construction laser for years. Far less expensive than the PuttAim laser.
    • True, but as 15 year olds go, he has a much better chance of getting there than any of the rest of them. Kid can flat out play. He almost Monday'd into a PGA tour event a few weeks ago too. Missed in a playoff.
    • I'd bet against him having much success as a pro, because of, you know… the odds. You don't want to be the best 15-year-old in the game. You want to be the best 25-year-old in the game.
