I'd much rather watch the LPGA than the Champions Tour. I have no interest in seeing Craig Stadler, Bernhard Langer and others play golf. I'd rather watch Yani, Cristie, Suzanne, Michelle, Paula, Ai and others play. I just find it more interesting than watching men my age play golf.

I don't watch either tour--but if they were to merge--I might check it out

Me too.  If I turn on the golf channel and the Champions Tour is on, I'll watch max 3 minutes.  If the LPGA is on and the leaders (hence who's getting shown on TV) aren't all in the Jiyai Shin mould, hitting weak driver, weak hybrid to 330 yard par 4s, I'll sit and watch for a while.

Thing is if you're not a golfer, you won't watch golf - ever.     I speak from 45 years of experience up until last year.     I would watch the ladies play if I happened onto it which channel surfing if there was a cute girl playing - it's cool to see a hot girl smack the crap out of a golf ball.     You can't look at TV ratings as a golfer - there are many more non-golfers than golfers & for the most part, most of them aren't interesting in watching women they don't know play golf.    They are barely interested in watching Tiger Woods.     It's a ratings thing - same can be said for billiards - I love to watch it on ESPN, because I'm an avid player - if you don't play pool, no way would you watch it.   Same for tournament bass fishing.    Etc.     For the ladies, it seems to me it has to come down to the "cute" thing - if the person leading the tournament looks hot, alot of people will watch, not just golfers...

I agree, Champions Tour is my last option if I need a golf fix.  LPGA might get better ratings if they end their tournaments on Saturday.  I'm not sure if they could condense into 3 days or if they'd have to start on Wednesday.

Really? I watch it all when I can. All of these people have amazing course management and are super creative shot makers. I watch the PGA, Euro tour, LPGA, Champions tour, National tour, reruns of Shell's Wonderful World of Golf ... whatever's on when I'm near a tv and my family doesn't revolt. I'd watch the Hooters tour if they put it on tv.

I'd much rather watch the LPGA Tour than the Champions. I'd say my hierarchy would be PGA Tour > Euro Tour > LPGA Tour > Nationwide Tour > Champions Tour.

People who say that they don't want to watch Craig Stadler swing a golf club are just rooting for the terrorists to win.

Poetry.  In.  Motion.

And his boobs are bigger than most of the players on the LPGA Tour.

I tune in every week that they play.  LPGA combines my two favorite things in the world women and golf.  I bought tickets to their US Open in Colorado springs and went all 4 days.  But I am a freak and I will watch anything that is golf related but it is a bit hard to watch the Champions Tour.  I even watch the late night commercials on Golf Channel its a good thing my wife doesn't let me have a credit card or I would have every training aid on the planet.  And on a side note I played a round at my course the day before the women's Colorado Open and the two ladies who were doing their practice rounds made me look foolish I almost had to quit after 9.  I did learn how to manage the course that I have played 200 times.

Dont win a lot?  How about Yani Tseng? Arguably the best golfer of our time at present and certainly a candidate for best women golfer period...yet she gets virtually no media love...

The LPGA is on the right track since bringing in this new commish...their problem remains sponsors and cash ...fact is that an amateur male player can probably learn more from watching LPGA pros than the PGA since the women use hybrids liberally and strike the ball somewhat more akin to regular guys distances -certainly more so than the super-humans driving it 340 plus yards on the PGA TOUR....or as I like to say : "There's probably very little that I can learn from a guy who hits sand wedge 130 yards"  LOL

I enjoy the LPGA Tour but do also enjoy watching guys my age play pretty darn good golf on the Champions Tour...the older guys seem more media and fan friendly and many of them are quite likable ...guys you'd like to have a beer with at the 19th hole...it just seems more relaxed and casual somehow and I enjoy that about it.

Agree. What I like is that I can relate a bit more at least in terms of how far they hit their clubs. Unfortunately, that doesn't carry over to the scorecard!!

We watch at my house because Yani and my wife are Taiwanese. My wife despises golf, but enjoys rooting for Yani. Since she will put up with it I get golf she gets to root for someone she likes. Win Win.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
